Okay, I like all these sports on this board. Well, except for the NBA, which I find unwatchable (college hoops are still great). But I'm sure there are still some soccer fans out there too.

I'm a Newcastle United fan and am therefore contractually obligated to brag about our day leading up to the transfer deadline.

Michael Owen coming is incredible, and he, Alan, Shearer and Alberto Luque should suddenly turn a very poor offensive team back into a scoring machine again. As long as someone can get them the ball...

...which is why I'm every bit as happy with Nobby Solano coming back as I was with Owen coming in. It was a mistake to let him go a year and a half ago anyway, and I'm delighted to see him where he belongs.

Owen, Solano, Luque, Parker, Emre, Moore...that's the best summer I've ever seen Newcastle have. Now Graeme Souness has no excuse not to have us in Europe next year, even after our atrocious start. He saved his job for now, but now he has a lot higher expectations from a club that always has high expectations anyway.

Anyway, I needed to brag. Now I'm done, so anyone else who wants to talk about the start of the season is welcome to do so.
