    iPod Management Software

    God, I hate iTunes.

I just want to be able to browse my iPod in a normal, explorer like interface so I can move files back and forth exactly how I want with no stupid, convoluted interface trying to "help me."

Are there any good, free software programs out there that can perform this simple task?

    Ipod

I don't have any alternatives but I do empathize with the frustration you are having. I find the Ipod software to be very non-user friendly and basically just a pain in the ass to use myself. So, I too, am will be following this post for other ideas.

Someone PLEASE create a new and user friendly subsitute to iTunes, because I am sitting here - eyes twitching - as I'm trying to figure out exactly how to use this one step short of useless software.

What about RealMedia's Harmony alternative? Does it work well?

Sorry to revive an old thread - but did we ever find good iPod software?

Don't be sorry. I'd been wondering about the fate of this thread as well.

I did try Graeblyn's (why does that never look right when you type it?) suggestion, except every time I tried to install it my system froze Can't be any worse than iTunes. I connect my iPod, iTunes auto loads and the computer reboots itself I thought Apples were meant to be superior to this kind of crap. Damn you Branen and your support of Apple Mac's making me think they were better than this

Okay, thanks to the wonder that is people who have nothing better to do than answer my stupid questions, I got someone to do a software search for me and this is the responce I got -

Check out the software section at www.ilounge.com -- I've looked around, and there are a couple decent looking one there. (I don't have an ipod, so haven't used any of them. I want to get an iPod eventaully though.. )

I'll search around for some specific ones for you.

    Ok, here goes:

(Since your computer crashes, I'm assuming you're using Windows )

    Anapod Explorer [ http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/getanapod.php ] $25, free trial.

    EphPod [ http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo...omments/ephpod -277-beta-windows-2000-nt-xp/ ] Free!

iPod Access [ http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo...omments/ipod-a ccess-for-windows-23/ ] Shareware, $15. This is used to copy files FROM your ipod to your computer.. something I don't think itunes does.

iPod Agent [ http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo...omments/ipod-a gent-10/ ] Shareware, don't know what the price is.

myPod [ http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo...omments/mypod- 023/ ] looks to be freeware.. based in Java.

vPod [ http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo...omments/vpod-b eta-053/ ] FREE! Transfer music to your ipod.

    Xplay [ http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipo...omments/xplay- 212/ ] Looks decent, but $30
Something in there is bound to work, pity I'm at work and can't try anything now
