It's funny that you speak of 'watchability'. I remember trying to watch a few games of American Football when the media were trying to push it hard back in the 90's. The constant stop start of it all bored me rigid. The longest play was a dozen seconds. Contrast this with football (soccer) where, generally, there is a lot more flow and I think you have a statement about the people that watch their particular sport rather than the sport itself. This is why you have people that like watching one or the other, not both. Different cultures, different mind sets.

We don't really need to change the rules to make either sport more watchable. We *have* the sport we want to watch already.
