In every other sport, last second stuff like that is exciting precisely because everyone KNOWS the time.

Also, calling a game early for whatever reason is lame, just as calling one late is.

Knowing that refs pull shit like that just makes it even more important that the clock be made an official thing that is displayed to all. IMHO at least.
