    Linux question on word processessing

    Hi,

I recently had my one machine switched over to linux, Red Hat gnome. While I am enjoying it I miss a few things that I could do with UltraEdit on my windows. Mostly the feature to remove hard returns and to add hard returns at a certain line length. This was most helpful in getting things ready to paste into Threshold and to edit stuff people sent me for the Times. I am using GEdit right now, cause its a tabbed thing that has a spell checker is is very simplistic in a way that UltraEdit was.

So my question is: Does anyone know of a linux word processing program that allows me to remove hard returns and add them again?
