I don't think playing pro hockey and working on a kids show are terribly comparable.
As for the term sloppy seconds, its mean and crude but not that hideous. I doubt it would even raise an eyebrow from censors on television. There is even a 20+ year old band named Sloppy Seconds.
They guy sounds like a pig, but then again maybe Elisha Cuthbert was a real shit to him. Who knows. Regardless, one would think the standard would need to be a lot higher before we start punishing people for their words. It was a personal matter after all, and a personal insult.
