    From the site:

1947 Great Britain decided to leave Palestine and called on the United Nations (UN) to make recommendations. In response, the UN convened its first special session and on November 29, 1947, it adopted a plan calling for partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab states, with Jerusalem as an international zone under UN jurisdiction.
The land was under British mandate before 1947 and it was called Palestine, but it wasn't anybody's country.

Oh. I guess I was wrong on the sovreign part. But it still had Arabs living in that area. And suddenly, they are forced out of f the land because the British broke their promise to the Arabs to give the lands back? After the Arabs had helped get rid of the Ottomans. But this is another story.

Its just that the opression the Palestinians faced brought out freedom fighters, but they soon changed into full-fledged terrorists once morons like Hamas and the Hezbollah see it to further their own cause. This has spawn so many sub-groups it is crazy. The web of terrorism is bigger then most think. You cannot forget regions like South East Asia, where the more populous Muslim population lives. There a branch of the Al-Qaeda, the Jemaah islamiyah linger. Then you have all those groups in Europe and all over. To nullify terrorist is not simple. Its not just shoot them down. And neither is ti give to their demands. Rather, you must find the heads and cut them off before they can grow again. This startegy is being adopted to fight against modern terrorism.
