This asswipe is a real piece of work:

    Clarett needs strong personal workout

Clarett had originally mentioned at the combine that he wanted to run at Ohio State, but it clearly would have turned into a circus. In November, Clarett accused Ohio State of academic and financial improprieties, and it has led to an ongoing NCAA investigation.

But Clarett has said he made those claims to clear his name with NFL executives, that he would have stayed quiet if head coach Jim Tressel and athletic director Andy Geiger had not "bashed" him to the NFL. He has since said he harbors no ill will toward the school and, in a conversation with ESPN The Magazine before the combine, Clarett said he hoped the war of words between him and Ohio State would stop.

"Can we all quit?" he said. "Let's cease. I don't want to be known as a troublemaker anymore. I don't want to be known as an ass. I just want to stop. It hurts so bad. My feelings are being overshadowed by the story. It's to the point I'm not 'me' anymore; I'm a machine. I'm a story. I'm a big ball of controversy. And I want it to quit."
So he made the accusations out of spite.

The accusations have caused a massive investigation that will probably cost Ohio State millions of dollars in the long run (fines, lost revenue, lost alumni donations, lost prestige which hurts recruiting and enrollment, etc.).

And he wants people to just "quit" now that it is inconvenient for him?

Well, quitting seems to be the one thing he excels at.

Woot! More chokage for this asshole:

    Broncos to release Maurice Clarett

What really rocks about this is how in his arrogance, he signed a performance laden contract with no signing bonus, so he gets diddly squat monetarily.

Clarett's second gamble was on his contract. He felt he was a first-round choice and wanted a contract similar to what a first-rounder would receive. To accomplish that, he tried to do get that contract with incentives. The four-year deal he pushed for included no signing bonus.

The Broncos were willing to give him a $410,000 signing bonus, but Clarett opted to push that money into workout bonuses in 2006 through 2008. Clarett agreed to only a $230,000 base salary in 2005. If he put up good numbers, Clarett had the opportunity to make $7 million over the four years of his contract.

By releasing him, the Broncos won't take any cap hit. It also appears unlikely that they would sign him to their practice squad although that remains an option if Shanahan is interested.

Guess his NFL career will be on hold for awhile.

Damn you Vin! I was just about to put up that link in it's own thread, when I thought I should check out this one, to see if somebody had posted it already!

Either way though, there should be a few people around here who'll get a kick out of that one!

I am a big Ohio State fan and when Maurice was first with us he was like the "golden boy." He could do no wrong. Until his true colors, that you all have been talking about, began to show. He is such an idiot. All of Ohio and beyond now detest him. He is the butt of so many jokes around here. It is beyond me that someone with such talent could just piss it all away. As Ari said, this latest bit of news wasn't surprising at all to any of us Ohio State fans.

oh btw.. Go Bucks! Woo hoo!

    Nice picture in this article:

He has the thug look totally down now.

I wonder how many more crimes he would need to committ before he'd be eligible to play in the NBA.

He's totally validating the NFL rule he tried to have overturned. Poetic justice.

That's a good point. I hadn't thought about it this way.

I honestly do not understand why the pro leagues don't make a simple rule that would easily hold up to any challenges:

    Requirement for Employment: College Degree.

How easy is that? Yes, it would they'd have to wait a bit for some players, but there is no way anyone who got into college couldn't eventually get a degree of some sort.
