I was pretty surprised to read this article, and I'll be even more surprised if he actually manages to keep going like that. The owner of a Michigan company who forced his employees to either quit smoking or quit their jobs said on Wednesday he also wants to tell fat workers to lose weight or else.
I think its a good idea, but I a little too far. Having a work place encourage healthy living and even helping their employees do it (vouchers for the gym, bringing in specialists, etc.) is a great thing. Firing someone for not going with it though, I'm not so sure about. So long as it isn't adversely affecting the rest of the staff, what right does he have to fire someone for it?
Or is rising health care costs sufficient?
