Alright. I am just curious I figure. I just watched my first football game and thought to myself... What are they doing?

I am a rugby player and a forward at that. Therefore part of the scrum that catches the ball during a lock on and pass it back to the scrum half who passes it to the quaterback, who passes it around to the backline who then runs up to score a try.

In football however, I see a sort of scrum, and a backline? Then the scrum passes it back to the QB who throws it out for someone to catch? then he runs as far as he can then he gets tackled down and then the game stops and everone forms again?

Sorry, I'm really blur on this game. Looks interesting, but I barely understand, only knowing that if the ball and the player passes the touchline, its a touchdown.

So, if anyone is really patient, care to explain football? Please?
