Absurd: Monsanto Suing Farmers Over Piracy Issues

"Intellectual" Property is reaching new lows.

Monsanto Co.'s "seed police" snared soy farmer Homan McFarling in 1999, and the company is demanding he pay it hundreds of thousands of dollars for alleged technology piracy. McFarling's sin? He saved seed from one harvest and replanted it the following season, a revered and ancient agricultural practice.

Monsanto has one of the worst histories in disposing of their chemical waste (PCB dumping), kept producing chemicals years after knowing about ill side effects (Agent Orange), and produced numerous hormones and drugs with horrendous side effects that they knew about but still marketed (Bovine Growth Hormone in milk).

Both in the industrial chemical industry and the medical research industry, Monsanto have one of the worst reputations going around.

Sadly, this litigation effort by them doesn't surprise me.
