    Bush visits Canada

President Bush recently made his first 'official' vist to Canada. I think this is a good thing. Relationships between the two countries have been somewhat strained recently, at least on a governmental level, and I don't think that reflects the attitudes of a majority of the citizens of either nation.

While there will always be trade disputes, or philosophical / ideological disagreements between nations, the relationship our two countries have shared is one which any other nation would envy.

Sure, we Canucks have a bit of an inferiority complex sometimes, and try to be smug about our progressive social and liberal attitudes, but the reality is we rely on the USA for many things, and rather than let our differences create conflict, perhaps we should celebrate them. I think the core of most Canadian anti-Americanism is that we are proud of being Canadian, and don't like it when people think of us as just Americans in heavier coats. We have our own history, our own institutions, and our own identity, even if we do have trouble defining what that is.

So, anyway, thank you Pres. Bush for visiting, the majority of us are happy and proud to call America our friend.

    Cheers

Well when I posted that link up, I was really hoping people wouldn't take it for the truth you know.
