I'm the type of user who prefers maximum user space so I just hate all those space consuming toolbars and buttons. Now, I have found my solution to build a perfect firefox interface. The recipe is as follows!
Frist install the tiny menu extension. It gathers all the menu items under ONE menu button. So it gives you plenty of space on the menu bar.
Second, install one of the compact themes like micro firefox. It actually looks much better than its preview, at least on my linux.
Finally, right click on a toolbar and select "Customize" then move all the necessary buttons and etc. to the free space on the menu bar. Then hide the navigation and bookmarks toolbar.
At the end, you will have all the useful inferface items ready in one single bar (the menu bar!!). You will still have access to less commonly used items with one or two extra clicks which is fine.
