    Your Favorite Firefox Extentions

Since the topic seems to come up tangentially in other Firefox threads, I thought it deserves its own thread.

What are your favorite Firefox extensions and why? Include URLs to download them as well if possible.

    Adblock

This is the only one I've actually bothered to check out but I love it. You can block nearly any ad, even some that other programs (like Admuncher) routinely missed.

Right click on the ad and choose "Adblock image" or "Adblock iframe". You'll be given a dialogue with the ad's URL. You can use *'s to basically block a whole ad-spewing domain at a time too, which is why it's so awesome.

Those are the ones I am currently running:
Adblock - As described above (it rooooocks!),
Close Tab On Double Click - This one is pretty self-expanatory,
MiniT - Adds tab dragging with drop place indicator,
Single Window - It pretty much adjusts your preferences so that you are browsing in a single window,
Tabbrowser Preferences - Some advanced controls for tab behaviour.

All of those can be found on the mozzila extensions site.

    Alright here are mine:

    Sage (RSS Feed)
    Gmail Notifier
Browser timer (Cool because it's got John McEnroe screaming as one of the alarms.)
    Calendar

All of these can be obtained by clicking on the "get more extensions" through Firefox.

Please don't forget to provide links, especially since their new extensions page doesn't seem to have a search function *grumble*.

So far all of the extensions mentioned can be found via "get more extensions" in Firefox.

Which takes you to a page without a search function.

That's why the first post says "PROVIDE LINKS."

This is a thread about helping out folks using Firefox, so providing links is the most helpful.

For example, Caer linked to the AdBlock page at the main firefox extention page. That's very helpful as it makes it really easy for someone reading this thread to get that extension.

I went to that page and looked through the extensions and didn't find a bunch of the ones you mentioned. Either the name is slightly different or they are buried somewhere that I didn't see them.

If they had a search function, it would have been easy to search for them specifically. Since their page no longer has that (I have no idea why) the only option is to read through hundreds (if not thousands) of extensions. That isn't a very helpful process.

All right, I just had a look and most of the extensions I mentioned indeed are no longer showing when you click on "get more extensions" from inside Firefox. I was able to find them (on the same extensions site with the help of google), here are the links:
    MiniT
    Close Tab On Double Click
    Single Window
    Tabbrowser Preferences

BTW: if the site you are browsing does not have a search feature, use google. It works like this:
    SearchWordHere site: www.DumbPageWithNoSearchFunction.com
And voila, google will do the work for you.

    Btw, that URL doesn't load.

I use the google toolbar's "search within this site" function, but that's no replacement for an actual search function that ONLY searches extensions.

For example, when I searched the extension site for things, I would get crap like discussions about something for Mozilla (non-Firefox) and other useless stuff.
