    FF Prizes!

OK, we're half way through the fantasy season, and it's time to start thinking about prizes. Ari generously kicked in some extra prize-age, so here is the breakout for those that forgot:
    Code:
    Prizes Registration Dollars
    ************* ********************
    1st place 100
    2nd place 75
    3rd place 50
Comeback Kid 50 (Best comeback from a bad start to the season)
Giant Killer 50 (Best underdog victory(ies))
Murphy's Team 50 (Team that puts up great points, but always seems to lose anyway)
????????????? 25 (Team that deserves a prize for A Reason to Be Named Later)
Obviously 1st through 3rd will be decided on the field, and it will suck to be in 4th!

    Comeback Kid Candidates:
Deokoria’s Misfits - Had a horrible start, and was even in DFL, but she’s already starting her comeback!

Sebboe’s Seizuredogs - Had a high of sixth, but has been falling, and is in tenth currently.

Gadiantor’s Gridiron Gorians - Low of DFL, but with a record of 1-6 has a long way to go.

Wrent’s Lucky Bitches - Practically lives in DFL. Has nowhere to go but up!

    Giant Killer:
    Deokoria’s Misfits
    Week 4 - DFL Misfits beat #7 Dogs 58.63 to 48.11
    Week 6 - #11 Misfits beat #1 Punchers 52.19 to 27.73
Week 7 - #10 Misfits beat #5 GiMets 75.17 to 38.49 (largest margin of victory that week)

    Isaviel’s Blitzat1
Week 4 - #6 (147.72 season points) Blitz beats #4 (251.36 point leader) DC 76.26 (most points that week) to 46.44 (largest margin of victory that week)

    Drasoini’s Shellshock
Week 5 - #7 Shock beat #1 Puffs 59.85 to 47.41 (the Puffs only defeat to this point in the season)

    Xenoroyal’s New York GiMets
    Week 5 - #8 GiMets beat #2 Buttheads 84.72 to 76.47

    Murphy’s Team
Gadiantor’s Gridiron Gorians - fluctuates between 5th and 6th place in total points, but is 1-6 and in 11th (was DFL for one week). The Dogs only game above 60 points? A 77.51 to 49.49 win over the Gorians. The Gorians would have beaten the Dogs any other week through week 7. The Shock put up their best game of the season against the Gorians. Had to play four of the first seven games against teams that were in the top four. WHAT SHITTY LUCK!

Pyryth’s Pokeys - fluctuates between 5th and 6th place in total points, but is 2-5 and in a low of 9th. Faced three top four teams in the first seven games of the season. The only team to lose to the Gorians (who had their best game that week). Not that great of luck either.

    Other:
    Rookie Manager of the Year!
Isaviel - Was in the top four for two weeks, and currently 5th! Great performance in the first half of the season. With a strong second half, she could be a shoe in!

Deokoria - While the first half has been a bit weak, she’s making a run with three wins in her last four games! I’m not sure if this is her first fantasy football season, but she might bear consideration as well.

If you have any other ideas for the “Other” category let’s hear ‘em, as well as any thoughts on the rest of the awards. Ideally I think it would be nice if a different person won each award, so that we spread the wealth around, but if someone is truly deserving of two awards I’ve got no problem with that either.

My plan right now is to put up a thread for voting (blind voting of course) after week 13.

    Thoughts? Ideas?

Great idea for a thread to get things down for analyzing who is in the running for various prizes!

maybe the last category could be Best Free-Agent pickups. McGahee for Serith definitely jumps off the page =P
-> Liathano gets bet up by teh post.

I think another possibility for the 'special' category could be 'The Punisher!'. Awarded to the team who beats their opponents by the largest margin.

I'm thinking this would be a good one to put in for next year more than this year. My vision for next years Premium League is to have more categories and decrease the prize money for the top finishers, but setting it up so the top finishers are likely to win a category or two. Things like:

    The Punisher! (mentioned)
The Machine (Team that cranks out the most points)
The Brain (manager that scores closest to their optimal for the season)
The Wolfe (named after Ron Wolfe, one of the greatest GM's in NFL history IMO, for the team who does the best in the draft and free agency)
The Streak! (for the team with the longest winning streak at any point in the season)

Anyway, those are just ideas off the top of my head. I know I'm going on a tangent on my own thread, but it's never to early to start thinking about these things!

    Prize Nominations

With the regular season done it is time to figure out who should get prizes this season. I'd like to take nominations and then put it to a vote. As a reminder, the categories are:

    Comeback Kid
    Giant Killer
    Murphy's Team
    Reason to be named later

    My nominations:

Comeback Kid - Pyryth (went from 4th to start the season, to 9th at mid season, and back to 5th to end the season)

Giant Killer - Deokoria (She was in the bottom of the league and clawed her way up by scoring five upsets--most of any team by my count--to include beating the number one team when she was in eleventh)

Murphy's Team - Gadiantor...If there is any doubt on this one you just haven't been paying attention to this season at all

Reason to be named later - Isaviel as Rookie Manager of the Year! She was just 1.09 points away from making the playoffs in her first season and was in fourth place for four weeks during the season (the only other team to be in the top four that isn't in the playoffs was Pyryth and he was only there for one week--the first week of the season)

I'd love to hear other nominations so we can put it to a vote!

Comeback Kid- The only other person who made anything close to a comeback was Deokoria- great job.

Giant Killer- This one you can also add Isaviel and even Drasoini. The playoff contenders were beaten by other coaches NOT in the playoffs by only by only 5 other coaches: Isaviel (beat 3), Deokoria (beat 3), Pyryth (beat 2), Xenoroyal (beat 1), and Drasoini (beat 1). If I were to pick nominations in this category it would be Isaviel, Deokoria and Drasoini (considering he is DFL in points while beating the leading team in points is amazing)

Murphy's Team- Gad is a nom, to be sure, in this category; he couldn't buy a win this season. The only other consideration I can think of for this category is.....

The only way I can imagine adding anyone else to the list is to add everyone to the list and have everyone vote, but with Gad's luck this season, he would lose with no votes, not even his own!

But seriously, I cannot think of anyone else to fairly add to this category, unless you add Drasoini as a Reverse Muprhy's Team nomination for managing to win 4 games with that cheerleading squad he called a football team!! It would at least give more than one coach to vote for.

Reason to be named later- Also to be considered is making this an "Ari's Choice" category.
