Some Cool Top 25 Lists from ESPN.com

    My favorite:

SPORTS BIGGEST FLOPS OF THE LAST 25 YEARS

According to both fans and the sports writers:

    1. Ryan Leaf

    Other lists:

SPORTS MOST OUTRAGEOUS CHARACTERS OF THE LAST 25 YEARS

BIGGEST SPORTS BLUNDERS OF THE LAST 25 YEARS

Leon Lett has #1 and #3 on the fan list. I absolutely loved #1 (#2 on the writers list), when he started strutting with his 90+ yard fumble recovery a few yards before the end zone. Don Beebe ran from the far corner of the OPPOSITE end zone and plucked the ball out of his hands from behind. As a result of this, the Dallas Cowboys failed to break the Super Bowl records for total score and largest margin of victory (both held by the 49ers, still, thanks to Lett).

I cannot believe Robin Ventura's idiotic decision to rush the mound against Nolan Ryan wasn't on these lists. Nolan Ryan putting the younger Ventura in a head lock and bashing his face in is quite possibly my favorite sports clip.

    Sorry Wyden.

Capitalization is the difference between "I had to help my Uncle Jack off a horse." and "I had to help my uncle jack off a horse."

There is never a good time for lazy writing!

The surprise to me is that Rutgers is only on there once

I can one up Wyden. My beloved Blue Devils are at no. 9 for their 2000 football incarnation that didn't win a game. This was the period where they set the record of most consedutive losses ever by a Div 1-A school.

On a happier note, Coach K was in the top 3 of coaches. I missed the second half of that program... but I know Dean Smith was One and Scotty Bowman was the other spot.

So you win some. You lose some.

Tony Mandarich was high on the list for flops, #3 by ESPN and #4 by fans. I think he belongs at #1, but Leaf got much more media hype, so I guess he had farther to fall.
