I think every person who signs up should post some kind of PLEDGE that they will not bail out in mid season and ignore their team. When people do that, it completely ruins the game.

    Why you might ask?

Becuase if you bail on your team, anyone who plays you late in the season picks up easy wins, whereas people who played you EARLY in the season might have racked up a loss to your team. That skews the final results.

The premium league probably will not have this problem, since folks have their $25 invested. But even still, it would really be important that folks not flake.

Are there any people currently signed up that have flaked out on their team in the past? If so, and you end up with more than 10, those should definitely be the folks to get cut. It's only fair!

I totally agree with Ari! Although I don't think that happened so much last season.

I had a couple of questions though....

    1. Can you explain how the premiums will work? Is this money we send to Thresh and is put into a seperate pot then the winner gets the winnings "registered" into the game?

    2. I've been thinking about going ahead with the fee, however is there a way that we can pay it in say a $ 10 and $15 installment? I know $25 doesn't sound like much, but it puts a dent in my pocket.

    Correct.

Unfortunately no. This would be a lot of extra and unnecessary bookkeeping.

Furthermore, you are not even allowed to register less than $20 at a time by credit card, for example.

I don't remember who the flakers were of past seasons, but with the premium of $25 and surprise prizes for people who had bad seasons (worst draft, worst loss, best bench (which means you played the wrong players), or whatever else (of course people who TRY to do bad wouldn't get anything, so no tanking your team at the end of the season)).

All premiums should be in before Week 1 if we go with the primium league (which sounds likely since a vast majority are for it). I'm sure Ari will need time to process the payments and then let me know who is paid up. The season starts 9 Sep, so we have a month to take care of that part of the league!

Also, we could obviously use more teams, so help us recruit people. Not everyone checks the forums or the sports channel, so if you know anyone who you think might be interested give them the link to the thread so we can get them signed up!

All for $25 reg league. Right now, there are 12 teams. If all 12 owners pony up $25 dollars that would be a $300 kitty to split, or $250 if only 10 people go with a registration league. Either way, that would make for some nice prizes. I think a 12 team league is very doable, even if the 2 current non-reg players reneg and need to be replaced. Here's my ideas on kitty disbursment:

    1st: $150.00
    2nd: 75.00
Alt : 25.00- best record for weeks 1-7
Alt : 25.00- best record for weeks 8-14
Alt : 25.00- not sure, (highest point total, most active players placed on injured list, anything but a prize for poor performance)

As far as league settings go, I'm really not picky, however, I think with 12 teams there should be 2 starting QB's, even if the TE position has to be deleted, or optioned as a WR to accomodate this.

What would everyone think of a live draft? I had some problems last year with Yahoos Live Draft due to not having the proper Java Console enabled even though Yahoos system check approved my setup for being able to support the Live Draft option.
If we go with a Live Draft, I'd prefer a Sunday morning or afternoon closer to the season, preferrably Aug 29th. Anyone not wishing to participate in the Live Draft or not sure if their computer will work can always pre-rank their picks to be picked in the chosen order. I think if a Live Draft is considered maybe it should be approved by a 2/3 or even a 3/4 majority before imposing it upon everyone due to the $25 registration.

Sounds like this will be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the season.

OK, we definitely have enough premium players to make the league work. More would still be nice though!!!!!

The only way we could run a second, non-premium, league is if people wanted to play in both. I'm open to running both leagues, but only if there is enough interest to make both viable, and the primium league will obviously be my priority.

I'm going to give it another week before we start working out the settings and prizes, but it should be easy to set it up so that half or more of the people end up at least breaking even. I'd really like to have at least one 'boobie' prize, so that there is some insentive for people who aren't doing well to keep playing.

In the first and third seasons I was in the bottom half of the league and ended up in the playoffs both times, and even one the first season, so I don't understand people who give up on a season...of course the second season it was total domination until the playoffs...good times, good times...

Anyway, keep beating the drums for a couple more players!

I was going to play in another free league this season anyways, I'd just as soon play with people I am familiar with. I'd be willing to play in a second Threshold league devoid of any registration fees if there were enough other players to support one.
