Wait... I thought only Americans Were Racist?

    Shocking?

Fans in Norway taunt, spit on Russel

OSLO, Norway -- An American soccer player in Norway was subjected to racial taunts and spit on by fans during a game.

Robbie Russel, who is black and was born in Amherst, Mass., plays for the Norwegian club Sogndal.

"I've experienced racism, but never anything like this," the 24-year-old player told the state radio network NRK.

He said four or five Brann fans on Sunday grabbed his jersey through the fence about 27 minutes into the game.

"A woman spit in my face," he said. "The entire time a group of supporters were yelling racist things at me."
    This confuses me.

I thought only Americans were evil and racist...

Why is it surprising? Travel anywhere out of the country and you'll find the U.S. being criticized all over the world. The image of U.S. is that of a huge bully, picking a war so they can help out their buddies with huge contracts for firms and countries that help us pick on others.

I don't see this as a racial prejudice either. I see this as a national prejudice. The guy got attacked cause he's a Yankee.

While it cannot be argued that the US is criticized by many individuals/groups in foreign countries, this article clearly suggests racial prejudice as opposed to national prejudice. I don't believe the article would have been written the way it was if a bunch of fans were shouting 'Yankee!!!' at the player.

When the truth of the matter is that the UN Oil for Food program was precisely what they wrongly accuse the US of doing now.

France, Russia, Germany, and Saddam Hussein were getting rich from it while the Iraqi people starved.

They were yelling RACIAL insults, not nationalistic ones. Check the article out again.

While I'm not saying racism is a good thing, it's a common thing. Humans are herd animals, they don't like anything that doesn't fit in. It's just a matter of degrees with different people.
