When does freedom of the press border the breaching of national security measures...or does it matter?
I'm not familiar with the law, but it just seems like common sense that the folks in government could find a way to keep our nation more safe at home by requiring more strict measures on the media during a time of war.
This whole prisoner abuse scandal has gotten blown way out of proportion in the media and only because it is an election year do I feel that both sides are either needing to tread water or to capitalize off the situation. It really does appear that we ARE insensitive to the actual abuse by beating this crap out to the public the way we have.
Do you think that the media has gone from being an information center to being a political platform? I myself find that I am outraged that the media would go so far as to put America's image in jeopardy for the sake of promoting a skewed public stance to the voting population (AND the rest of the world) to try and gain votes for one side or another. Are we somehow hurting our integrity as a nation here? Gosh...I'm feeling ill over all this.
