Perfect Example of the Anti-American Peacenik

    Pretty goddamn pathetic.

UMass grad student: Tillman's not a hero

The column in question was submitted by graduate student Rene Gonzalez and published Wednesday in the Daily Collegian. It was titled "Pat Tillman is not a hero: he got what was coming to him."

"You know he was a real Rambo, who wanted to be in the 'real' thick of things," Gonzalez writes in his column, which is posted on the collegiate paper's Web site. "I could tell he was that type of macho guy, from his scowling, beefy face on the CNN pictures. Well, he got his wish. Even Rambo got shot in the third movie, but in real life, you die as a result of being shot. They should call Pat Tillman's army life 'Rambo 4: Rambo Attempts to Strike Back at His Former Rambo 3 Taliban Friends, and Gets Killed.'"
Pat Tillman gave up a $3.6 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals (NFL) to enlist in the Army Rangers. He was fighting in Afganistan. He was motivated by the 9/11 attack to do what he could to help in the war against terrorism.

"It wasn't like he was defending the East coast from an invasion of a foreign power. THAT would have been heroic and laudable," Gonzalez writes. "What he did was make himself useful to a foreign invading army, and he paid for it. It's hard to say I have any sympathy for his death because I don't feel like his 'service' was necessary. He wasn't defending me, nor was he defending the Afghani people. He was acting out his macho, patriotic crap and I guess someone with a bigger gun did him in."
Tell that to the women who were treated like dogs.

Further, having an entire country that is willing to harbor you (as a terrorist) is an enormous boon. It allows you to create stable training facilities, stable fundraising operations, stable communications, everything. The fact that numerous terrorist organizations had a state willing to give them safe harbor made their nefarious efforts much easier and made them far more effective.

This guy is your typical Anti-American Peacenik idiot.

I hope he gets the shit kicked out of him.

Yeah that is pretty sick. While Im not sure I ever approve of putting one soldier head and shoulders above the rest, all those fulfilling their obligations deserve our appreciation, it's pretty obvious that Pat Tillman gave up a lot to be a soldier. He obviously didnt do it for the money, the 'glory', or for the chance to be a rambo. If he wanted to show off his ability to hurt people, do bad things, etc, he could have remained a player in the NFL... There are plenty there that engage in such behavior.

I think that columnist needs a kick in the ass, and his editor should be ashamed. I never would have published that shit when I was editor in chief.

    end rant

Rene Gonzalez -IS- an asshole. Period. And anybody who thinks like him are complete fucking assholes as well, IMHO.

I have no problem with anybody as a person if they are anti-war, against the war in Iraq/Afghanistan/etc. I respect their views, even if I disagree with them.

However, when you start throwing your shit on the soldiers who are out on the battlefied in life/death situations, everyday, simply following orders from their Gov' then in my eyes you are nothing but a pile of moldy horse shit.

REALITY CHECK: You can raise a anti-war protest sign and STILL mourn and feel sorrow for the soldier's dying in combat. These are NOT contradicting concepts.

Some blog found the guy's online personal ad. He tries to make it a joke, but it contains enough of the truth to be pathetic. Go for it, add him to your shopping cart.

I didn't think a new thread was needed for Pat Tillman, but here's someone else taking a shot at him as well. I believe this link is updated by the day, if it has changed, the release date is May 3rd.

I can't stand Bush, and disagree vehemently with the war in Iraq, but even I see several glaring inaccuracies in that cartoon. Moreover, it is not only meanspirited, but downright evil of the cartoonist to portray Tillman in such a way.

This guy is also getting the Silver Star. Although he's dead, I wonder if he would have accepted it if he had lived.
