Another thing is that when he made the decision to go into the military, he was bombarded with interview requests. But he didn't want to make a big deal of it and denied them.
Which, is part of what troubles me. I'm not sure if he would approve of his friends/associates agreeing to all these interviews. Nor, am I so sure he would be pleased by all the media hoopla surrounding his death, when the larger loss of life goes largely uncovered. Indeed, when Fox News had some media analysts doing some navel gazing about that, they seemed to blame it on the military, saying that the military makes it hard for them to give proper coverage to the deaths. I don't know how true that is, though. I have a very strong feeling that it has a lot to do with the fact that Pat Tillman is a celebrity, was the perfect victim (in terms of all the great things he did/stood for), and was very attractive to boot. I think it's great that we have an opportunity to know about this great man, but I really wonder if the media went too far in their manipulation of his death. For example, all those "mourners" surrounding his family like rock star groupies, and sending all the gifts and memorials to the family. In moderation, that might seem nice, but at some point, such a bright spotlight on his family has to be taking a toll. At some point, they need to be left alone. I don't know.... I'm just very, very, troubled by the acute scrutiny and sudden "celebrity status" they may have to edure.
