For those that don't know, Pat Tillman turned down a big contract with the Cardinals to enlist in the Army, and was killed in action in Afghanistan.
I've heard some people say that it is sad that he turned down millions of dollars and was essentially killed because of that choice. Certainly we lost a good football player with his passing, but I don't understand these people. Tillman put his NFL career on hold so he could serve in the military. His death is sad for the reasons that every military death is sad, but the loss of a soldier is much more tragic than the loss of a professional athelete.
