New Laptop
Alright.. I think I may get myself a laptop.
Thing is, never done it before.
I've heard some good things about dell, so thats what I've been thinking about mostly, but to be honest, it's just about the ONLY type of laptop I've heard of.
I only started looking today, so I'm sure there are many, many different brands out there. The only reason I'm thinking of Dell, is because of the desktops -- I've heard good things.
Anyway, like I said, I've never bought a laptop, never researched into it very much. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me.
Any suggestions would be very helpful, Thanks.

my suggestion, dont get a dell!
get a computer shopper mag, or something like that... find some of the independant manufacturers, and get a BADASS one for cheaper.
Dell = instant $300 extra
plus, it loads a whole bunch of worthless shit and crappy companies programs on your stuff that you cant erase.
My first laptop I got like this cost me about 700 bucks less, and was better than any mainstream comp for over a year and a half for performance.
And.. with that said.. .... my new one is a viao, but I got a screaming deal on it. I would recommend getting that unless you got a kickass deal.
You end up paying for a name, and yeah, if you want to but into the whole established company, super tech support, etc, then it can be worth it. Me, I fucking hate those bastards, fuck em.

I bought a Toshiba about two years ago. It's a good machine, but I don't use it much, just on trips. Their support has been great (had battery problems and tech support walked me through it quickly over the phone). If you hear stories of people having to ship machines back and forth, don't bother. Having to deal with lazy tech support staff is one of my pet peeves.
Depending on what you plan to use it for, you might even consider the purchase of a used laptop to start with. I think I paid $200 for my last one and had it for a whole year.

I was talking with a friend of mine, and he said he's bought he's last two desktops from a website called www.ibuypower.com.
He said he's been really happy with them, and recommends it.
Has anyone else bought anything from them?
