    Saddam Is Captured

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Saddam Hussein (search), the former Iraqi dictator and most-wanted figure by the U.S.-led coalition, has been captured in Iraq, U.S. officials said Sunday.

The officials said the former leader, who during his rule slept in lush palaces while many ordinary Iraqis lived in poverty, was found "cowering" in a basement in a home raided by coalition soldiers. The sources said the person believed to be Saddam had millions of U.S. dollars in his possession, and that tests were being conducted to confirm his identity.

"Bremer has confirmed to the Governing Council that Saddam was captured in Tikrit," Noor al-Din said. "He spoke on the phone to several members, including Ahmad Chalabi."
What a freaking PANSY. He didn't even put up a fight. He was found cowering, begging for his life.

Take that France. You gutless bastards were HAPPILY funding the continuating of his regime and the murder of children and innocents.

Well, the USA and our REAL allies have solved the problem.

Yes, the USA played a role in Saddam coming to and preserving his power (early), but at least we take responsibility for supporting the wrong guy. We cleaned up the mess we played a role in creating.

It is an amazing thing called ACCOUNTABILITY, RESPONSIBILITY, and INTEGRITY. Some nations like France, Germany, and Russia should give it a shot.

No nation is perfect, but today is a great day for the world and the United States.

To all the Threshers who have or are currently serving abroad.....

    THANK YOU!

This is great news for the US. I don't watch the news often, but this morning I've been glued to the television more than the computer!

Maybe now the Administration's opposition will realize that we CAN succeed by keeping our backbone strong, and with being under the scrutiny of the general public.

I'm also extremely proud of the troops serving and I haven't felt this secure in a very long time.

    Go troops!

I am no Biblical scholar, but I read an article online that pointed to the eerily prophetic sound of this biblical verse in regards to Saddam:

The Book of the Prophet Isaiah

14:16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider
thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did
shake kingdoms; 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and
destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his
prisoners? 14:18 All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie
in glory, every one in his own house.

14:19 But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch,
and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a
sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden
    under feet.

What's gonna happen to him, besides a trial of some sort?

Oh, you're guilty. You get to stay in an American jail.
Or, you're innocent, you get to go rule Iraq some more. (not gonna happen)

    "Guilty"

"Yes, I get to spend time in soft American prison"

"Mr. Hussein, there are several thousand Iraqi people here to take you to your new home, where you will be (insert appropriate hellish punishment here)."

    "What..?"

Don't put too much faith in prophecy that quotes only a few verses. People have been using same scriptures and tying it into recent events since way before Hitler. There was quite the following that believed Gorbochov (sp?) was the anti-Christ because he had the "mark of the beast" on his forehead. There was quite the following who declared the fall of the World Trade Towers to biblical prophecy. I'm a firm believer in Christianity and the like, but some of this stuff really makes me giggle.

Point is, there are probably ~500 prophecies in regards to the end times/current events in the bible. It doesn't make much sense to take one, or two, or three, and then disregard the rest.

Just a side point, but yeah, I'm glad Saddam was captured.

Sure, I got a secret. More 'n one. Don't seem likely I tell 'em to you now, do it? Anyone off Titan colony knows better than to talk to strangers. You're talkin' loud enough for the both of us, though, ain't ya? I've met a dozen like you. Skipped off-home early. Minor graft jobs here and there. Spent some time in the lockdown, but less than you claim. And you're, what, a petty thief with delusions standing? Sad little king of a sad little hill.

Yes Elvion, we know all this. It is still cool when a prophetic verse sounds particularly appropriate.

Clearly he is guilty. Now the question is:

Death penalty or prison? what is the same that saying: Iraqi tribunal (death penalty) or the Intenational Court for War Crimes (prison)?
