I'm dredging up this old thread in the light of the salary cap possibly going away after the 2006 season.
If the cap goes away parity will quickly become a thing of the past. Owners who want to win will do what it takes to get the players they need, and we'll see dynasties build up again. While cheap owners, or those with huge debts from buying a team in the past few years, will not be able to compete for top talent and will wallow in mediocrity.
One good thing for the 2006 season is that the Packers are one of the few teams with enough cap room going into free agency to get some quality players, and the current state of affairs could mean they get discount prices. That could get Favre to come back. Pick up a Pro Bowl O-Lineman or two and have a solid draft and we're back in business baby!
