The Real History of the Crusades

Here's a good article to read for those with interest in both medieval history and current political situation in the Middle East:

"The Assyrian program of exterminating various ethnic groups generally failed to promote cultural diversity."

That was rather interesting. I've always been interested in the Crusades, but never could find the time to spend a while researching them. Medieval history is also something that I rather enjoy trying to find time to research. That article was a rather good find, Solmyr. I'm glad you put up the link for us.

Medieval history is so totally the coolest EVER! WHEE!

Okay.. so I'm biased. I want to get a PhD in medieval history. hehehe.

I think it's hilarious all the stuff they did back then!

Italian overlords proving their power by putting drunks, retards, and then children who die of exhaustion after orgies into the papacy.

Having three popes at the same time!

    The Children's crusade!

My favorite saint.. guinefort!! THE DOG!

And all the changes in society and states that were made and attributed to "keeping tradition" ::wink wink:: hehe. great stuff!

Wyden is so stunned by your beauty he can do nothing but gaze upon you in blissful awe and wonderment!

    Thanks Solmyr.

This thread exposed a few things to me, not necessarily about the Crusades, but some other mindsets that appear to have been around since the 14th century.

Primarily the Jews in Germany thing.

The idea that the Crusades were not aggression but a need for unified action by the last bastions of Christianity at the time was also interesting.

And Seri? You're not a dork unless you dress up like a knight and whack other dorks with sticks on Sundays.
