lol that's great.
Here's one of the comments someone posted:
"Gives a whole new meaning to the words "Stimulus Package"!"
Had me cracking up.
what would be even funnier and I think awesome is if they actually got it. Then the government would be officially sponsoring pornography..
Am I the only one who sees this as a complete and total setup on their parts for a HUGE publicity stunt?
I mean, this is Win/Win for them. If they win the case, then yeah, porn is officially funded and supported via tax payer dollars.
If they "lose" their argument and the government denies them the money, then they get to make a huge spectacle of how a legitimate business whose product is enjoyed by millions of people across the nation is being denied because it goes against (insert a variety of targets here).
These guys are brilliant when it comes to doing what they do. And what they do is keep your thinking about porn.
And we all know what a hard job THAT is... :rolleyes
I say let 'em sink. It's not like cars which require specialized labour and training, any mug with a camcorder and a couch can make porn, for fucks sake! Hell, that's all Girls Gone Wild is!
Maybe these big porn moguls NEED a reality check.
Uh, do you really think the porn industry is in trouble and this is anything but a joke/cheap PR grab? Maybe you NEED a sense of humor!Quote:

Ok, point taken, but seriously, what kind of business plays oliver twist for shits and giggles? Considering a lot of the problems in the current world market are brought on by lack of investor confidence, is this really the best strategy they could be taking?Quote:

Well, the porn industry. They are pretty much unable to secure financing for their products from any of the traditional methods, so this is not really going to hurt them in that sense.Quote:

Mainly, it just gets Hustler and GGW a lot of free press.
Read up on Larry Flynt sometime. And to answer the second half of your post (is this the best strategy), the answer is an unequivocal yes. As far as the porn industry is concerned, there is no such thing as bad press, particularly when it's also free.Quote:

This is the latest from Reuters covering the HUGE $18 billion bonuses given out last year to corporate executives.

Did this amount come partially from the bailout? And if so, Obama really shouldn't be surprised. I know I'm not, but at the same time, jeezus, who are supposed to trust for anything these days? Can't trust the banks to do the right thing. (as a side note, banks up here are now offering 3% interest savings accounts. Am I supposed to be grateful for 3%, given these massive corporate bonuses?)
You can't trust the media to give you the truth because every source is biased, or you have TV hosts, bloggers and "journalists" who are nothing of the sort.
Somedays it's hard to be optimistic about the future. Does anyone else think there's going to be a HUGE revolt in America down the road?
Most Liberals are unhappy with their lives. There for eternally pessimistic, and blame others for their own lack of in life.
Besides, I don't see the Media digging into this Pork Bill that Obama is rubber stamping through Congress.
Not to mention baby-eaters and cheese-eating surrender monkeys!Quote:

And to what do you attribute the current GOP identity crisis and financial crisis to?
Um, sure. I'm a liberal, I'm pretty happy with my life, and I still wouldn't be surprised if the populace revolted.Quote:

I'd be very interested to see some published scholarly work that supports your statement.
Besides, since when did the porn industry need cash? I know guys who've been flown all-expenses paid and paid ten grand for eight minutes on film, all at the drop of a hat. If the porn company can spring for that, I'd say they're doing pretty good.
Well, not necessarily. Some people demand a lot of money/benefits, and you just have to pay it or you don't get the big name. A few years ago, we had an opportunity (ha!) to invite some big-name American homeschooling speaker over to our conference in Australia. She asked for five-star accomodation, first-class travel, etc, etc, etc, in addition to the fee for actually speaking. Now, as it happens, we KNEW that there was no way we'd recoup that (we don't even pay our own expenses, let alone make a profit, with these conferences), but in an industry where the market is orders of magnitude larger than ours, the possibility is really there. When the market is enormous and the competition cut-throat, spending extra money may give you the edge you need; but it doesn't necessarily mean that you're successful. It might just mean you have a more expensive failure.Quote:

As a budding businessman, I'm learning this. I have some large purchases on my horizon and the idea of laying down a couple grand of my own money is scary and exciting!!:eek :eek :eekQuote:

If at all possible, DO lay down your own money. If you get anyone else's money, they get some control of your business. Starting a business is an expensive undertaking, but whoever provides the capital has ownership, and I can't say I like the idea of starting a business and then being an employee of something owned by someone else. Or if it's funded by a loan, then you're at the mercy of the bank, and if high interest rates and low turnover hit at the same time, you go under.Quote:

Major expenditure is of course unavoidable; if you're fortunate, a good proportion of your startup costs will turn into assets, but otherwise it's just gone. Don't start too big, but on the other hand, don't hamstring yourself by starting too small. But above all, don't take my advice - I am not an expert. :)
Yah! I've been doing pretty well considering I've been in business for only 3 years. I've been extremely fortunate to have friends and colleagues who advise me, help me, and smack me on the back of the head (lovingly)when I do something dumb. Thankfully, many of my pre-conceived notions and stresses of what it meant to run your own business have dissolved.Quote:
