There are subtle things that I noticed that, were I not looking for them, would have just seemed odd, but I likely wouldn't have paid much attention. Particularly with her laugh. She moved wrong during the laugh. It's amazing though how far we've come. 5 years and you won't even be able to tell the difference.
Prodri and I said the mouth and overbite. If I didn't know that the girl wasn't real, I would think that she had a moderate overbite or was wearing braces.
Pretty crazy stuff, mang.
And just imagine the possibilities for porn.

After all those posts on porn, I wasn't about to click on anyone's links, but I thought "Oh, it's Pae, it should be safe". I'm glad I did. I had a "WOW!" moment. The illusion of the target being in front of the screen is so realistic that I couldn't shake it until he zoomed in and the target got clipped by the edge of the screen.Quote:

I got into ray-tracing in the 1990s. At the time, home computing power was such that when you did a single frame of moderate-resolution ray-trace, you could watch it rendering row by row; complex images and high resolution meant that a single frame was worth going and making a cuppa during. We've had ten or twelve Moore's since then. Are we at the point where it's possible to get something like the above demonstration with full ray-traced imaging? Could you move around in a photo-realistic scene?
Holy crap wow. Imagine a FPS with graphics that good and using that head-tracking combined with VR technology.
My thoughts exactly Jyn. Can you imagine something like doom 3 with headtracking? The immersiveness of RPG and FPS games would be increased a thousandfold!
That lifelike animation is pretty cool too! Once headtracking and advanced animation make sweet sweet love, I feel sorry for gamer's social lives!

And just think about PvP! There you are, moving your head to cause your character to "peek" around a corner in a game, only to get headshot by a sniper! You'd actually have to duck and such to take cover behind objects in game.Quote:

Realistic animation could be a fantastic addition to games (so long as it doesn't become the sole focus of course).
On the downside, politically correct attention whore activists will have a new degree of realistic violence/sex/etc to bitch about.
As for the head tracking video, I wanted a Wii all over again the first time I saw it. The same guy has a couple other cool videos too. Maybe it's bad that I want a Wii more for programmatic fiddling than for gaming. Ah well. Head tracking combined with realistic graphics would be really slick!
If it isn't in place yet, I can see this kind of video interaction doing wonders for injury recovery, perhaps even psychological restoration in depressed patients in some manner. Combine the Wii Fit technology with this kind of head tracking technology could be a real benefit to the health industry.Quote:

There are arcade games (two that I know of) that use this idea. One is a police shooting game. Tyisrisum and I used to play that when we went to the movies. There is another that is a boxing game that I played I think in the detroit airport. Each game required you to duck/dodge/lean to change your view. I find them hugely amusing.Quote:
