Anyone from the T.O. area planning on catching the Bills game in December? Or the preseason game they played?
I think it is great that they are playing there, I'd love to go, I've never been to a NFL game (CFL is alright, just, not nearly the same skill level). I do hope that they don't relocate there permanently, though, that would suck for Buffalo fans.
This is a brutal blow to Giants fans.
Giants' Umenyiora out for season with ligament damage
Congrats Falcons! Another stupid, bone headed decision.
Rookie Ryan to start at QB for Falcons
Have fun ruining your young QB before he even has a chance to MAYBE be good.
I hope its worth the *maybe* 1 or 2 extra wins this gets you as you roll through a 3-6 win season.
Harsh.
Source: Cardinals set to name QB Warner as starter
Surely there are some ugly junior college harlots ready to console Leinart.
Isn't Warner drawing social security? Bwahahahahaha! Leinart must feel like a total loser.Quote:

A glimmer of hope for Giants fans?
Strahan, Giants discussing return
This article seems a little premature if nobody has even spoken to Strahan yet.Quote:
Ex-New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan and his former team have begun talks about a possible return in the wake of Osi Umenyiora's season-ending knee injury, several media outlets reported Monday, citing unnamed sources.
A team official called and talked to Strahan, 36, who retired in the offseason after helping lead the Giants to a Super Bowl championship, a source close to the seven-time Pro Bowler told the New York Daily News.
"They want to see if there is any interest there," agent Tony Agnone told The Associated Press. "I have to talk to Michael."
Strahan is on vacation in Greece. Agnone said he has not talked to him about the Giants' inquiry.
Great work, espn.com
Strahan tells Giants thanks, but no thanks
The Giants are going to be hurting on D without Osi or Strahan, but I'm glad he stayed retired. I was reminded of an interview with Strahan while the Favre fiasco was going on. A reporter asked him how sure he was about retiring, and he said "1000 percent." It's nice to see someone stick to their story, even if the Giants are worse off for it.
Strahan made the right move. $2 million to talk about football beats $8 million to play and possibly get hurt.
If only Favre would have made the same decision....Quote:

QFT! I saw a Packers #4 jersey not more than an hour ago as I walked through a store. It made me a little sad inside.Quote:

Where are all the Pats fans?
Brady's season over after injuring knee vs. Chiefs
Karma is a fuckin' bitch.
Lets look at what has happened since Belichick got caught cheating, got indignant about anyone daring to punish him for it, and went on an "F-U" (courtesy of Bill Simmons) season of running up the score:
18-1: In the most agonizing fashion possible, they come one helmet catch away from a perfect season. Talk about coitus interruptus.
Brady out: All those years of his bullshit, dishonest injury reports where Brady was on every one. For the first time ever, he doesn't have Brady on the injury report, and now he's out for the year.
Cassel in: This is now their starter. How valuable would it have been to put Cassel in 2-3 drives earlier in 10 or so games last season, instead of running up the score. Think how much better prepared he'd be to play now. Or heck, if he sucks, you'd already have learned it and could have gone out and gotten a better backup.
This might be the end of the New England dynasty. All because of Belichick's cheating and the bad karma that resulted from it.
The shame of it is the Pats still have a lot of great players. Players who play with class and skill and heart who don't deserve this fate. That's what happens when you are part of an organization headed by a dishonest piece of shit.
So Wes Welker... who "fucking sucks" now?
The whole world's upside down - San Diego loses to Carolina, Donovan McNabb has an amazing (3 TD, almost 300 yard) game, the Colts get shit-canned by the Bears...what the fuck is going on here?
I was thinking the same thing.Quote:

This year, I'm going to shoot for the moon...
J E T S JETS JETS JETS! GO FAVRE!
I want to see Favre win a Super Bowl more this year than ever.
A Favre championship would be awesome this year. Today's game was pretty slick, even with the strangeness of losing a placekicker. It was funny when the Jets had their backup QB and punter practicing field goal kicks. Maybe Favre can just chuck the ball downfield to start games...Quote:

In true Bill Belichik fashion... piling on is fun
Hahahahaha. I bet.Quote:
What time are you reading this? 1 p.m. ET or so on Monday? I'll bet you one Patriots season-ticket package (no doubt available for cheap on eBay!) that every store in New England is now sold out of Red Sox and Celtics memorabilia.
Fake quote, but funny:
ROFL!Quote:
"I wonder if we can copyright 1-0?" -- Robert Kraft, Patriots owner
Quote:
"Looks like knee braces will be the hot fashion item this fall." -- Editor-in-Chief, GQ magazine
"Looks like I can call off the neighborhood watch for this year." -- Mercury Morris, 1972 Miami Dolphins
"Yes! Bring on the supermodels!"
"You know, that polo shirt and khaki pants look isn't really in style anymore. I should take you shopping with me sometime."
Two more great quotes from that article that have nothing to do with the Pats:
And:Quote:
And now I present the short play "Jessica Simpson Sees Tony Romo's Chin."
Simpson: "What is that on your chin? Sauce from buffalo wings?"
Romo: "No. It's blood. I cut my chin open."
Simpson: "You keep blood inside your chin? That is so gross."
And … scene.
Quote:
Great job by the Ravens working Joe Flacco into the offense. The rookie completed his first pass for nine yards to tight end Todd Heap. But the veteran immediately fumbled it over to the Bengals, as if to say: "Whoa there, rookie. Slow down. Completing your first pass? Positive yards? That's not how we do things around here. Take your time."
I can't believe there is a controversy surrounding Ed Hochuli and his incorrect whistle.
For those who do not know what happened:
Norv "Journeyman Crap Coach" Turner's comment is what I find not acceptable. What does he want Hochuli to do? Rewrite the rulebook right there on the field? If replay is not allowed to give possession to the opponent in the situation of fumble vs. incomplete pass, that's the end of it. And frankly, that sounds like a potentially good rule, since that's a very tough call and they really should err on the side of the offense keeping the ball. That call is a weird one. It is almost as bad as the old "pushing out" call. You are asking a referee to figure out exactly how forward the QBs arm is moving at the time, and to somehow know the difference between a pump fake and a pass.Quote:
Trailing 38-31, the Broncos reached the 1 but on second-and-goal, Cutler reared back to throw and the ball slipped out of his hands, bounced off the grass and into linebacker Tim Dobbins' arms.
...
Referee Ed Hochuli blew his whistle when the ball came out, ruling it an incomplete pass. A review showed that it should have been ruled a fumble. Instant replay rules, however, don't allow the opponent to gain possession in such situations.
"All we can do to fix it is put the ball at the spot that it hit the ground, which is why we moved it back to the 10-yard line and the down counts and it becomes third down," Hochuli said afterward.
That explanation wasn't good enough for Chargers coach Norv Turner.
"On the last play, it was clearly a fumble," Turner fumed. "Ed came over, the official, and said he blew it. And that's not acceptable to me. This is a high-level performance game and that's not acceptable to have a game decided on that play."
Hochuli did the only thing he could in that situation. Yes, he made a mistake, but that's a really, really tough call and an easy mistake to make.
Referees association says it stands by Hochuli after botched call
It is a shame that this even needs to be said. Hochuli has enough integrity that he openly admitted his mistake and even went right to the coach to admit it face to face. But that wasn't good enough for classless, perennial loser Norv Turner.Quote:
"No one feels worse about this than Ed, but like the coaches and players in our high-speed game, mistakes will occur," NFLRA executive director Tim Millis said in a statement.
I have hated the Chargers for a while now thanks largely to LDT, Merriman, Norv Loser, and the Chargers ownership. But now more than ever I hope they go 0-16.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Matt Milan fired by the Lions. There go two automatic victories for the Packers every year. :headbang
Heh, not so fast. I think a winning Lions team is a sure sign of Armageddon.Quote:

Edgerin James expecting to leave Cardinals
Kindof a pissy way to go about it, but I think he makes a good point. The guy did rush for 1200+ yards last year, and he is a darn good receiver as well. They badly misused him.Quote:
James told ESPN's Bob Holtzman that he won't return to the NFC West champions next season, even though he has a year remaining on his contract.
"I can't go through this again," James told ESPN. "I didn't come here to block. I'm not an offensive lineman."
My prediction: the Patriots will pick him up, and he'll rush for 1300+ and catch another 200-400 yards.
Everyone thought the Packers management were a bunch of idiots for trading Favre before the start of the season. I'm curious what people think about it now.
Do you see Favre coming back another year? It might be tough with teammates coming out publicly like this.

Not a huge shock, but a bit of a bummer.
Colts coach chooses retirement
One of the greatest coaches of all time and a tremendous class act.
Bad news for the Pats.
Pioli to join Chiefs
Good news for Chiefs fans - both of them.
A few Super Bowl thoughts.
That was a pretty exciting game, but I only watched the 4th quarter. I am sure the writers will be out in force saying this might be the greatest super bowl ever, but was it? I think a great game takes more than just a couple of lead changes at the end. Things need to happen all game, imho. But maybe they did.
Poor Big Ben... two Super Bowls, and twice his WRs win the MVP. :P
And a hypothetical question: if the Cardinals had won, largely (or partially) on the arm of Kurt Warner, does that make him a HOF canidate? He'd have two titles with two different teams (not sure if that's ever been done - during the game they said only one other QB had even PLAYED in a SB for 2 teams), tons of statistical records (not career, mostly season/game type stuff) and 3 of the top 6 Super Bowl performances stat wise. Its an interesting question, because without the win I think he's not even close to a HOF candidate.
I liked the game overall, despite being prepped for disappointment. I am not a Steelers or Cardinals fan, and Giants/Pats last year was one of my all-time favorites.
The finish to the half was fantastic, and the 4th quarter was basically a 15 minute crescendo of excitement. That's what people will remember, and in that context it was a great game. Overall there were a lot of sloppy, penalty-ridden minutes though.
I do think if the Cardinals won, it'd make a case for Kurt Warner in the HOF. People are talking about it already, though I don't think he's at that level. The numbers for Warner looked a lot better than Roethlisberger last night. Watching the game, though, I certainly didn't get the feeling that Kurt was contributing more to his team's chances than Ben.
Yeah, I got the impression it was one of those games that had a lot of sloppiness and then both teams rallied at the end.
It is really interesting to think about the huge effects of a single play. What if Dwight Clark doesn't make "the catch"? Do the 49ers become a dynasty? If Santonio Holmes doesn't make either the TD catch, or the earlier 3rd and long catch for a 1st down, does Kurt Warner win a 2nd title and go into the hall of fame?
