Religion is one thing. But to me it was personally attacking a person for what they are and comparing them to something criminal. That's okay? And I wanted to contact Graeblyn because it obviously hurt him to see what was written and I don't believe these forums are here to hurt others but more to discuss things.
First, you don't get to define the terms on which someone argues their point. It's pretty weird to pick a fight and then stipulate the kinds of weapons a guy can bring or whether he's allowed to use his right arm. Imagine if I said you HAD to argue with me and that I would only accept an argument from you if you could frame it around scripture.Quote:

Also, I take it as a compliment you want to challenge my beliefs, but my beliefs weren't the point I was trying to make. I never tried to convince anyone else that what I belief is correct and that they should jump on board the same bus. There's where the self-victimization began. It's important to understand all I did was say "hey, I agree with that" and then make the case that you CAN agree with that and still NOT be like Phelps. That's all. I also added a bunch of other stuff about common decency and folks getting along without compromising their belief structure, but that was an accessory to the first point. I'm not sure why you want to argue something I'm not attempting to argue. This really isn't a discussion on scripture and I'm just not going to get into that subject here and now.
Actually, I think that's a good way to end this thread. There is obviously going to be heaps of hot feelings and different opinions and beliefs and I see no reason why to continue on with it. (As someone else suggested to me. ;) )
I think the thread should just end here or be closed.
Ok..first of all why are people calling Christianity intollerant? Do we even see 1% of Christian joining anti-gay movements? I've witnessed far more gays being religiously intollerant, and I'd go as far as to say I've had far more flack for being a Christian than I could have ever had being gay. I turn on Comedy Central at night, and every single show (Yes, every one) makes fun of my religion. I've witnessed several Comedians call Christians ignorant in those words. Let's see how things fly when someone calls a gay person ignorant. They get banned from telivision. So Christians might not think homosexuality is the right thing to do. Based upon our beliefs (And not all Christians hold this belief), homosexuality is a sin and many Christians consider these sins the equivelent of each other.) If you ask a Christian his or her opinion and he gives it to you in these words..well you asked. It's like if someone's ugly wife asks her husband "Am I ugly" and he says "Of course", well she asked for the truth. You can't hold a Christian's beliefs against him when you ask to hear them.
I've had gay friends, I have a gay boss even, and if they ask me my views, well I share them. That doesn't mean I'm intollerant, and I'm willing to bet that Anthson was sharing his views without walking on that very delicate political tightrope. I don't hate gays, based upon my beliefs I can't agree with their lifestyle and quite honestly I feel sorry for them in ways. But this is America..it's what we sign up for when we live here.
I wish I had been on the forums in the past couple days - so I could have locked this.
This fits under philosophy only vaguely. I'm sure no one is interested in the umpteenth religious debate that goes on indefinitely and solves nothing.
I do believe we're done here.
