He was the No. 3 rusher in college football this season. Big loss for RU :(
But at least you kept your coach!
Plus, WVU might tank a bit, and Louisville is losing their QB. So things don't look bleak for RU in the Big East.

Not sure how I feel about this, I guess I should be happy but for some reason I feel like the one of the uncles for the Hatfields or McCoys and my nephew wants to marry the other family.
OSU has arguably 3 of the best lineman recruits in the country coming in this fall so will there even be room for this guy?
I foresee it as a big, annoying distraction that the media will go on and on and on and on and on and on about to an extent way beyond its actual impact.
Is it too early to start talking about the 2009 recruiting class? :P
Top prep QBs commit to Georgia, Michigan
What I like is that he is a pro-style QB, and generated that kind of offense.Quote:
"After research on each of the schools, the many visits, the countless conversations, and the never-ending prayers, I have selected the school that from the first time I went there to attend a camp, I knew the school (Georgia) was for me," Murray said.
"I went back for another visit with my family, then another visit for the spring game."
The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder from Tampa Plant HS, ranked No. 48 in Rivals' rankings, threw for more than 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in 2007. At a news conference at his school, Murray thanked the other colleges that recruited him.
Michigan, Georgia land top juniors as quarterbacks become sparse
That pick the hat thing is totally overdone, and I hope that trend goes away.Quote:
Murray, a pro-style passer ranked the No. 48 overall prospect by Rivals.com, announced his choice at a news conference at his high school. Murray, whose finalists were Georgia, Florida and UCLA, declined to play the "pick the hat" game. Instead, he sported a black suit and black tie, adding a black Georgia hat only after he made his announcement.
I just read this fan comment from an OSU fan trying to slam Georgia:
Wow. That's some good book learnin' up at *THE* Ohio State University.Quote:
Being a buckeyes fan living in the south - NAKTIME - that was great!! That would be the most creative thing posted in a non-hateful way without me being able to argue at all!! GREAT POST!
cdillon36 - would you rather lose to a 4th place big ten team in a non-BCS bowl? We lost both games, you know what we may lose a third and a fourth....but we may also win a couple in there too. Did Florida stop trying after getting beat 62-24 to Nebraska? Did we give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? NO. So why should we?
Youll have a great week!
I'd assume the Pearl Harbor quote was an Animal House reference, rather than an actual mistake.
I thought that later, but still, if they wanted to do that they better try harder so they don't look so stupid.Quote:

National Championship game prediction:
Rutgers: 35
UGA: 30
You should be very careful with such things. Last year Falix tried hating on UGA, and look what happened to Michigan vs. Appalachian State.Quote:

Stafford enters season in best condition of his life
*crosses his fingers*Quote:
The 6-foot-3, strong-armed quarterback has undergone a physical transformation. The junior is now a leaner 225 to 228 pounds.
"I'm probably in the best condition in my life, I guess," Stafford said. "It's good being able to be confident that I'm in good shape and that my feet are fast. Hopefully, it will translate onto the field."
...
Stafford's summer included working the Manning Quarterback Camp in Louisiana - where he said he worked out twice with Peyton and Eli - and the Elite 11 Quarterback Camp in Southern California.
Former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, an ESPN analyst, gushed about Stafford after seeing him at the Elite 11.
"I really think that Matthew Stafford, when it's all said and done with the talent around him and watching and looking at him these last couple of days throw the football, it's hard for me to imagine a better looking physical specimen in simply getting back and distributing the football than Matthew Stafford," Herbstreit said on the air.
"This guy is going to have a huge year and when it's all said and done, maybe the best quarterback and maybe the first pick if he decides to leave early for the NFL Draft."
They ranked us 33?!?!? Freakin outrage. They'll eat those words when RU cracks the top 10 by October!Quote:

Nah, I'm not hating like Falix was (the Appalachian State game was kinda funny though!) UGA is actually one of the college teams I like and follow =)Quote:

This may make me unpopular but I would like to see Ohio State get the SEC monkey off their back. They got their asses handed to them by SEC teams in the last 2 championships. I'm rooting for OSU now (after Rutgers of course!)
For Daryonn's sake, I could live with that as long as it isn't at the expense of my Bulldogs. :)Quote:

Knowshon Moreno gets cover of ESPN the Magazine.
Michael Phelps gets SI.
Tim Tebow gets his own magazine cover.
That's harsh. Of course I sent the link to my Florida alum buddies =)
Damn.
ESPN pays $2.25B for SEC rights
That's for the LEFTOVER games that CBS doesn't take.Quote:
ESPN will pay the Southeastern Conference a staggering $2.25 billion over the next 15 years — about $150 million a year — for the conference’s TV rights, giving the network all of the SEC’s content that was not taken by CBS, industry sources confirm.
The best news is this:
Raycom/Lincoln Financial/Jefferson Pilot suck. I always hated it when I had to watch a game on their shit network.Quote:
The deal effectively ends any conversation of a conference network, and it knocks Raycom Sports (formerly Lincoln Financial and Jefferson Pilot) out of the SEC’s distribution business for the first time since 1986, when JP Sports began distributing SEC basketball.
Quote:
The conference will bring in an average of $205 million annually in media rights beginning in 2009-10 and running through fiscal 2025.
Lucky Sum b@$#%es. :D I wish Raycom would be bought out. The four letter network should have added the ACC to that deal. We'd happily give them Billy Packer for a commentator to be named laterQuote:

I checked out the rankings on ESPN.com today after seeing on the news that UGA opens up the season at 12:30pm ET today against Georgia Southern. And much to my surprise, the Dawgs are ranked at -FIRST- by not only ESPN.com but by the AP and USA Today. Let's hope that they can hang onto that top dog spot (pun intented), for the season and keep the season opener streak going with for the 12th season in a row.
I found this quote by the Georgia Southern coach, Chris Hatcher, to be rather amusing:
ESPN.com ArticleQuote:
Hatcher doesn't believe his team will be intimidated Saturday.
"Georgia puts their pants on just like we do, one leg at a time," he said. "Though, their legs may be bigger than our legs."
Grumble... I found a new reason to dislike both California and ABC. The game of the week, the Chick-Fil-A game, one of the two games concerning two ranked teams, #24 Alabama vs #9 Clemson is being broadcast nationwide on ABC... everywhere except California. ARGH! Here, they're showing Cal vs MichSt. I know they're local, but come on, neither team is ranked! Same network that shows the damn Rose Bowl. At least they're not insisting on showing the PAC-10 nationwide instead.
That said, go Vols!!! (beat UCLA)
How can you root for Tenn against anyone as an Alabama fan? He screwed your school and got them on probation to save his own butt.Quote:

There are three things I hope for every year:
1) UGA wins the SEC Championship.
2) UGA wins the National Title.
3) Tennessee goes 0-12.
So far all 3 are still possible.
UGA played *60* different players in the first 55 minutes of the game (in other words, not pure garbage time). They played 11 true freshman. And they led 38-0 in the 3rd quarter and eventually won 45-21. I'm happy with that.
Mark Richt is not someone to run the score up on weak opponents just to get his rocks off and impress pollsters. He also likes to get as many people as possible some game experience. I like that attitude.
Go DAWGS!
Hahaha. Great story from Rick Neuheisel, the current head coach at UCLA:
Quote:
One quarterback who didn’t have much success in an opener was Neuheisel. When the Bruins opened the 1983 season at Georgia, Neuheisel received a pregame omen from the team’s bulldog mascot.
“Uga threw up on my cleats during warmups,” Neuheisel said. “I threw four interceptions.”
Fucking Notre Dame. Look at their crap schedule:
The only real team they play is USC. :(Quote:
SD State: lost to a FCS school
Michigan: lost to a MWC school
Michigan State: lost to Cal
Purdue: Off
Stanford: beat Oregon State
UNC: barely beat FCS McNeese State
Washington: got destroyed by Oregon
Pitt: lost at home to Bowling Green
BC: beat Kent, 21-0
Navy: beat 1-AA Towson 41-13
Syracuse: got hammered by Northwestern
OH

Very true. I despise Fulmer and hope he gets fired for piss poor performance. BUT I don't hate the school as much as Auburn. They have the sole honor of my full ire with the included wish to lose everything, which includes the coin toss! Hell, they can lose their way to the stadium! But off of Auburn who actually can win a game...Quote:

I'm stuck in California and I hear all about the damn Pac-10. And I especially hate how USC hopped OSU and UGA for practically the same performance. So VA is a BCS team. They're still scrubs just like Ga Southern or Youngstown State. I'd be more impressed with a victory over Appalachian State than Virginia! So SEC>Pac-10 and I will pull against them anytime an SEC team plays a Pac-10 team... unless it's Auburn.
Not sure where I stand on OSU v USC. Between the frog hopping USC who is not allowed to get National Title #12 until we get #13 and THE (pretentious) Ohio State University, I'm not sure who to pull against. But it's sure to be a great game! I hope they tie (sorry Daryonn). :)
But, yeah, Fulmer is a piece of shit, no doubt about it. And now, Tennessee has another bit of fecality to it, in that they lost TWO season openers against Pac-10 teams in a row. But Tennessee has the same hatred as any other SEC team... except Vandy. I kinda like them! Nothing sucks like a Big Orange!
OSU almost choked against a chump team. Dang.
Notre Dame: Fucking ESPN keeps giving them front page and prime tv coverage. They suck. They are irrelevant. They barely rallied very late to beat Sand Diego State (who lost last week to a Div IAA school).
Georgia Bulldogs: Very dominant win, and a great showing for Moreno (168 yards, 3 tds, 9 yards per carry). That should boost his Heisman status. I'm not sure if I want him to win it though... I'd rather he stay another year. :)
Next week UGA plays South Carolina and Steve Spurrier. Last year, Falix hated on UGA and Spurrier won. That lost cost UGA its shot at a national title. Since then, Michigan U, and almost every team in the state of Michigan has suffered enormously bad karma.
For everyone's sake, hopefully UGA takes care of business in Columbia and crushes the Old Ball Coach (his new online nickname though is the Old Ball Sack. lol).
Can someone explain to me how USC gains *11* #1 votes during an idle week, and UGA loses 2 #1 votes when they crush an actual real team 56-17?
Last week:
This week:Code:1. USC (23) 1-0 1,462
2. Georgia (20) 1-0 1,442
3. Ohio State (10) 1-0 1,385
4. Oklahoma (2) 1-0 1,344
5. Florida (3) 1-0 1,295
6. LSU (3) 1-0 1,202
OSU lost 9 votes, that's fine. But UGA got NONE of those? USC gets all of them? And then also gets if not 1, 2 from UGA?Code:1. USC (34) 1-0 1,481 +11
2. Georgia (18) 2-0 1,454 -2
3. Oklahoma (3) 2-0 1,370 +1
4. Florida (3) 2-0 1,306
5. Ohio State (1) 2-0 1,289 -9
6. Missouri 2-0 1,212
7. LSU (2) 1-0 1,198 -1
And even in the AP (not as bad, but close):
Florida LOSES a #1 vote by beating Miami? Huh?Code:1. USC (21) 1-0 1,539
2. Georgia (20) 1-0 1,506
3. Ohio State (15) 1-0 1,497
4. Oklahoma (2) 1-0 1,432
5. Florida (5) 1-0 1,415
6. Missouri (1) 1-0 1,301
7. LSU (1) 1-0 1,207
1. USC (33) 1-0 1,577 +12
2. Georgia (23) 2-0 1,525 +3
3. Oklahoma (2) 2-0 1,458
4. Florida (4) 2-0 1,438 -1
5. Ohio State (1) 2-0 1,347 -14
6. Missouri (1) 2-0 1,336
7. LSU (1) 1-0 1,231
OSU loses 14, an USC gets 12 of those? WTF?
Man, I really hope OSU can find a way to beat USC.
USC is the new media favorite. Or shall I remind you of the month long coverage of "Would 2005 USC beat this week's legendary team?" right before they were beat by Texas? USC would have to lose to lose votes. If they barely beat Middle Arizona Community College from Div III-AAAAAAA in overtime, they wouldn't lose a single vote. But the good news is that I know who to pull against!
Yes, I remember that vividly. They were practically ready to put the 2005 USC team up against the 2004 New England Patriots (you know, the last Pats team to win the Super Bowl).Quote:

I also remember rooting my heart out for Texas, and being absolutely pumped when they pulled out a win.
We say it all the time, but it needs to be constantly repeated. The BCS system has to go. The coaches poll in particular is getting completely out of control.
Knowshon Moreno is a god.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI-PT_waY8k
At about 1:20, he brutally stiff arms a guy en route to a 53 yard TD.
At 2:00, as part of a 20+ yard run, he HURDLES OVER a guy who is standing.
Somehow, none of these plays made ESPN's college football coverage. None of them even made the plays of the week.
Yeah, that dude's a beast. Totally looking forward to ALA-UGA! After we beat those other two chump teams first. ;)
You let us win the national title this year and next, and then you can have the next two. Deal? :bigpartyQuote:

Good article about UGA's rise over the last 7 years, and Mark Richt in particular:
Won’t be long before UGA wins it all
Some of the comments from Bobby Bowden about Mark Richt are the most interesting, imho.
Another win, about a tough conference opponent in their stadium...
Another spot lost in the polls.
WTF?
Yes, it was close. But look at history. This game is always close, no matter how good either team is. That's the thing about rivalry games - especially conference games. The last 5 or 6 games in a row now between UGA and SC have been decided by less than 7 pts, and the winner has scored less than 20.
Fucking absurd.Quote:
Georgia is the first preseason No. 1 to drop that far after starting 3-0 since Oklahoma in 1985. The Sooners also fell to No. 3 after winning their first three games.
What kind of idiot would wear a shirt like that in public?
I guess he's not wanting any chicks.

I love how there was all this hype and sensationalism like "Most Anticipated Matchup" for this game (JUST like when OSU played Fla for the national title) yet OSU just got totally raped... again. Why is there so much nat'l media love for ohio state every year???
I read a funny comment somewhere... should they now be called "An" Ohio State University? LOL. But that's not nice, sorry Daryonn.Quote:

The thing is, it isn't OSU's fault they get all this insane media hype. A big part of the problem is they are the pride of the Big-10, which is a storied and famous conference. Unfortunately, the Big-10 is in a serious state of decline. I have read theories about this, with many alluding to serious unfixable problems like the recruiting advantages of warmer states. Maybe it is just cyclical, who knows.
Though Jim Tressel has done some questionable things with his own coach's poll ballot, so then again maybe its fair to slam them. I don't know.
DEAL! I'm not looking for a NC this year anyway, but the Tide is surprising me quite pleasantly! As far as the Dawgs falling like that, I'm totally surprised. I mean, do the pollsters not realize that SC is always decent? Or that Spurrier is at the helm? I hope the Cocks do well and shut the SEC naysayers up. Of course, the SEC bastard child embarrassment that is Tennessee kinda didn't help our image as a conference. But that said, I'm sure Georgia will silence a few people. Too bad the coming slaughter of Arizona State was already done. UNLV beat you guys to it! Just glad to see the LAC-10 shown as the inferior conference that it is. On the other hand, I want USC to win every game on their way to the National Title game... just to see what Ohio State saw two years in a row! An old school SEC ass whipping! I say if Bama has to lose one, let it be against UGA in a close game, just so they can rip USC a new asshole.Quote:

And Geaux Tigers. That's gonna be a damn good game!
This is a HUGE week for the SEC.
UGA vs. Arizona State (the UNLV loss scares me, because how Az State has a LOT to prove).
LSU vs. Auburn
Florida vs. Tenn
WOO HOO!
UGA over Az. State, 27-10.
Moreno: 149 yards rushing, 2 TDs.
Stafford: 285 yards passing, 1 TD, 0 INT
AJ Green: 8 receptions, 159 yards, 1 TD
Defense: held ASU to 4 yards rushing.
Down sides: Giving up 104 yards of penalties, kick off returns - 5 returns for 125 yards is BS (and 4 of those were for 116 to one guy, 29 yard average kick off return. LAME!).
You forgot to mention that one of those TD's was an -amazing- Superman-esque leap from about the 5yrd line while getting about 5.5-6ft of air before his quite graceful tuck-and-roll landing.Quote:

Not to mention LSU beat Auburn with a last minute touchdown. Fla slaughtered Tennessee. Vandy is now 4-0 and probably ranked now. And Bama beat the hell outta Arkansas. Life is good. SO... SEC 2- LAC10 1... and that 1 is Tennessee.
So on to yet another SEC Top 10 game this week! Unfortunately, that means either Bama or UGA has to fall. I just hope it's as good as LSU-AU was. I doubt either team will disappoint.
Aaaaaaand.......USC -LOST- to an unranked Oregon State last night, 27-21. The Beavers actually held USC scoreless until the 3rd quarter, but by then it was already in the bag. They'd been up 21-0 until then, and hung on through USC's attempted 21-pt comeback for the win.
This had better fucking drop USC -out- of 1st place overall, and -should- mean that right now the BCS contenders are in the SEC and Big 12.
Here's to the Dawgs wiping the floor with the Tide tomorrow night, and continuing on their way to a BCS title and Heisman Trophy.
I almost agree. USC SHOULD drop. I was so watching that. I had to bump my buddy and ask if I'm really that drunk, or is ORST really decimating USC?Quote:

As far as Georgia wiping the floor with us... ain't happening. As everyone can see. But I'm not counting UGA out unless this lead sticks to the last minute. Will continue comment after the game... ROLL TIDE!!
Damn this makes me so jealous:
Keeping the Tide Rolling
Quote:
The Tide has lost just five starts to injury this season. That’s not starters, that’s starts.
They forgot to mention one key factor in the article. Luck. We were DAMN lucky! On the other hand, Georgia was unlucky in that aspect. Sorry, guys. The dawgs suffered far too many injuries this year.
On the other hand, what about the massive firing of coaches? Tuberville is the latest! Okay, I can't stand Fulmer, and the Tennessee program has been on a decline for a while. But Croom was doing a decent job. And Tuberville, former head of the Demonic Minions of Satan, did an awesome job (to my utter dismay) at Auburn with the exception of his first and last years. Three SEC coaches in one season? Isn't this a bit ridiculous?
