I really cannot understand why someone would go out of their way to be like this. It makes no sense.

I mean Saban? Is there a more despicable, dishonest, sleazy coach right now in college football? I don't think so. The way he dealt with the Dolphins was just underhanded and unprofessional. And now the number of schools, teams, and coaches (at both the pro and college levels) coming out of the woodwork with allegations of him cheating is just piling up.

Why root against a team loved by someone you know, just for the hell of it, when they are playing teams that you could care less about? And why not just keep it to yourself? I guess I just can't see why where the fun is in being a wet blanket for someone else.

All I can figure is this is the kind of negative karma that explains what is happening to Michigan.

Hell, everyone knows I've been a Bama fam since before I ever logged into anything online. Thus, I despise Auburn, so that gives me reason to root against Georgia and for NMSU this week. I'm beginning to think you like to pull for those everyone hates. Weis? Spurrier? Next thing you're gonna tell me you liked Tony Stewart before everyone else did. Oh, are you a Yankees, Lakers, and Red Wings fan too? You've already admitted to liking Notre "Damn, we stole numerous titles". And for the record, as much as I'm loving Notre Damn's record, my only regret is that Michigan couldn't continue losing!

Georgia's not being root against for Ari's sake, I just dig Saban's crooked ass.

As for my likes, sometimes I will root for someone just because everyone piles on them and hates on them, case in point - Barry Bonds. Red Wings are my team here in the D, so they don't count :P

Yeah, I don't understand the hate. I think it is pretty rude since I pay for these forums and they are not a registration reward of any kind. It is like going over to someone's house to watch a bowl game, and rooting against their team for no other reason than just for kicks.

If UGA was playing Michigan I would understand it - just like I understand Lebeau pulling for Alabama.

I don't expect people to root for my team. But I think it is common courtesy not to post against someone's team just for the heck of it while you are in their house. It isn't like you are required to post your opinions here. What is it that compels the spiteful hating?

I'm not mad at all - not even in the slightest. I am just completely confused and shocked. I absolutely cannot imagine doing this to someone else.

I mean just for the sake of example, I always felt Michigan was darn close to Notre Dame as far as being a pollster darling and getting unfair hype and inflated rankings. But I never rooted against them here or slammed on them simply because I know Vyrn and Falix like the team a lot. So out of common courtesy, I just held my tongue. When Michigan lost to App State, I specifically didn't gloat on the sports channel or on these forums for the same reason. I knew it had to really hurt the Michigan fans we have in the community.

It seems to me that in any kind of community, it is basic respect that you don't go out of your way to hate on a team that someone else loves passionately - particularly when they are not even a rival of "your team" or they are not playing "your team." Obviously, all bets are off when it is Head to Head. But usually, that is just for that week and then people go back to being respectful of each other.

I just don't understand how someone can derive joy from hating on something that someone else cares about, just for the hell of it with absolutely no personal stake or reason.

I don't think his comment was meant maliciously. I don't think it was meant as hate. I just took it as a little ribbing.

I think it was good natured ribbing and banter, much more than trying to spread some hate or ill will in someone's house...

Personally, my feeling is if you dish it out, be prepared to take it...

I guess, to an extent, not dishing it out should be mutually respected. Obviously, some get more amusement from random unprovoked ribbing than others. But I definitely don't think those cases should be looked at as some hateful attack.

I think painting it as PersonA trying to attack or hurt the enjoyment of PersonB over a little one liner pot shot is a little extreme.

It's not like Falix dislikes Ari and was trying to piss on his parade.
