Vick Indicted

So what about the NFL's move telling him to stay away from training camp.

I am not yet disappointed by the NFL's handling of this, but I hope they do not intend to pussy foot around much longer.

I recently learned that according to Virginia law, it is a felony to simply own property where dog fighting is held. That virtually guarantees Vick will be a felon. That seems like a slam dunk lifetime ban.

Goodell got off to a good start. I hope he has the balls to keep it up. There is almost no harshness that is too far when it comes to banning players for crap like this.

The reality is that there will always be stars, and getting rid of even 20% of the current players would have almost no noticeable effect on the game. But it definitely does hamper my enjoyment of the sport when such lowlifes are a part of it.

I would like to see a lifetime ban. I haven't been following the whole story about how The Man is sticking it to Vick, but anything that removes a person who can run the 50 in 4.0 but is otherwise detrimental to the world around him is fine by me.

I think the pussy footing is only a delay on the NFL's part to wait for a formal conviction. I think the move is simply to avoid legal response by Vick in the (unlikely) case his charges are dropped or he is aquitted.

I think you are right about why they are acting slowly.

There won't be a conviction (or even a trial) for quite a while. It will be at least a year for a conviction.

The league doesn't need a conviction to ban him from the league, or suspend him from a year. I hope they intend to do that once a little more info is made available.

So his buddy is going to testify against him.

Ouch. That hurts.

As for the NFL kinda waiting around..... I don't think they want Vick near a football stadium or anything to do with them. The minute he gets cleared to play and gets picked up by a team (does anyone see him staying with the Falcons? Hello Miami!), there are going to be busloads of people from PETA and other animal organizations protesting and creating all kinds of noise. I think they're just waiting for the testimonies of the 3 guys who rolled on Vick so they have something concrete to stick to him.

You figure even with Vick getting the reduced sentences just because of his legal team and all the money he has.....Hell, the guy is still gonna face a good 2-3 years in the pen. He's not gonna do just a couple months and call it a wrap. Notice me not crying that he will have to do significant jailtime. I hope he and all his stupid ass cronies rot.
