If everyone saw the sense in this, pandering for votes wouldn't get you reelected. However, vote-panderers get back in. Ergo, there are a lot of stupid people in the polling booths who vote poorly.Quote:

Having accepted that (which, btw, is just as true of Australia as it is of America, and probably of every country that's ruled by representative democracy), we then need to stop talking about stupid presidents (or prime ministers, or whomever) who just go looking for votes. Actually, in a Machiavellian way, they are perhaps MORE intelligent than those who go into politics to try to _do_ something, because looking for votes is what gets you reelected, and reelection is the only real gauge politicians have of success.
To eliminate stupid politicians, just don't vote for them. And tell all your friends to vote against them too. Nothing else will do.
