In Canada during the cold war however, there was a brief time when Canadian aircraft were armed with US nukes, and these nukes, while still owned by the United States, were under the care/custody of the Canadian military.
But I think the more general point here, is that western allies share nuclear technology with each other (France w/ Israel, for example), which is something that the west, as a community, forbid countries like Iran and North Korea from doing.
