I for one will not let islamic terrorists, extremists, or popular North American sentiment define for me what it means to be muslim, as I've spoken to countless people of the muslim faith in my city, visiting their homes, and markets, and am always amazed and moved by their connections to their family, community, and of course, faith.

Terrorism CAN happen any place and with any faith, but look at the facts and numbers - most of the acts are done by Muslims. Don't think you can argue with this.
And why would the Pope say such a thing? I dunno, maybe it's because it's the truth (as it appears nowadays).

Violent Islamic terrorists may dominate the headlines, but given these numbers, they must foolishly think they can define the faith.
Kestra, that's just the thing. They are defining the faith, and part of the reason is the fact that they are not actively decried by the rest of Islam. It seems like implicit consent to me, when it would be simple for religious leaders to say "This is not Islam".
The reason people think "Islam" when the topic of terrorism comes up is probably because members of that particular religion are the most prolific terrorists in the world today.
This is not a racial thing, Kestra. Iran is mostly Persian and they are arguably the most prevalent threat to the non-Islamic-state WORLD given the complete insanity of their current leader. No one has even brought this issue across racial lines in this thread (I think).Quote:
