I meant the 'two sets' only in the sense that Israel is very different than it's neighbors in the way they DO want peace. They do not just want to 'win'... if that were so, they could have a dozen times over. They employ diplomacy with actual intent to KEEP peace. Not with the thought of "yeah, we're getting our butt kicked, let's regroup and reload"... BUT they have to deal with the fact that the people the make peace with have zero intention or ability to KEEP peace once struck.
They act like the west but are unable to force the aggressors in the matter into viewing peace or negotiation with the same integrity. Living by one set of rules, being killed by another (you're not MEAMs so you die)

Just how strong is Israel's military? I know their military is sharp but I'm not sure of their size and full potential.
Is it me or has Iran been strangely quiet so far in this? From all their rhetoric I would have thought them to be jumping behind Lebanon and threatening open war. They haven't got their warheads finished yet and they probably worry about a strike on their nuke production. I know they want that bomb so bad they can taste it.
I think the fact that Iran has shut it's collective mouth on this issue speaks to how powerful Israel is. Im pretty sure that if Iran takes an active stance in this Israel won't hesitate to show Iran what a real regional power can do.Quote:

It is also a sad testament to what our own weakness has wrought. When a pissant, tyrannical nation like Iran feels totally comfortable angering the United States by any means necessary, but fears angering Israel, it is pretty clear that the United States is projecting nothing but weakness.Quote:

The reason I blame the Democrats is that they worry, and have fostered, this whole concept of "Political Correctness"... which by its terms means that a good old fashion ass kicking is out of the question. For instance, if 9-11 happend in Israel almost no Israeli would have objected to the invasion of Iraq --- remember that Iraq celebrated the bombings.
Israel really follows the "playground" rules for dealing with its neighbors - if you pick on the strong kid you're bound to take a beating. I think Iran realizes this and is not going to act against Israel unless it knows it can deliver a knock out blow AND avoid the wrath of the US.
I have pretty extensive training in military targeting. I can tell you with complete certainty that when the US targets something every effort is made to minimize collateral damage. There are many factors considered beyond what you mention in your post. In the end a General takes the advice of the targeting experts and the opinion of a lawer specialized in the laws of armed conflict and makes a decision.Quote:

On a final note, it is one thing to theorize about how much collateral damage is acceptable and another to be part of the process that actually makes those decisions. There are tons of factors to consider and no end to the number of people that can second guess you. If you're doing this sort of work the only important thing is that at the end of the day you can look yourself in the mirror and know you did the right thing (both legally and morally). Being familiar with the process and all of the factors that go into it I can look at what Israel is doing and say that none of them should lose any sleep over the collateral damage at this point. I don't have all of the information, but with what I know I'd likely have done much the same thing.
I heard on news a lot of the weapons that Hezbollah
has gotten are from Iran for the reason that Iran wants to give the US a "black-eye" and draw attention away from their Nuke
program at same time.
Not that I think it is working in either case.
But yet another factor the Media has brought to the forefront of
their coverage.
I wonder how many holes in the dike the U.N. can put their fingers in over there before something gives way??
and I fear it won't be pretty.
