I didn't mean to put it as a generalization- trust me I know there's a number that want to be here for our culture and not our economy. If I was them I would do the exact same thing so I will redefine my position that I'm not particularly upset with the illegals themselves. Bum? I was being gentle. Some of those people refuse to learn english and aren't here to bask in the democracy we've built. A lady on Hannity and Colmes almost went berserk with the other side of the coin on this issue. Apparently Arizona was fined something like 21 million because around 160,000 students were not properly up to snuff on their english skills, couldn't speak it or whatever. Why? She says they don't want to learn it. I believe her.
Now the people taking to the streets, not caring about the laws that are in place for a reason, basically just making demands for more, that's a different story. And I believe with their turnout they will have a real impact, even though it's safe to assume every illegal in the country is grouped in there as well. I mean, we have to ask ourselves, what are they really after? I like how they quickly wised up to the mexican flag issue, now you don't see them anymore. But why were they waving the mexican flag in the first place? Like I said before I don't buy it.
And the solution is very easy and Graeblyn said it, but you don't hear it very often... Go after their benefits, the employers that hire them, etc.. No one has to "round them up". Take what they came here for and they will leave of their own accord. Another point is mentioned from the liberal point of view: What about all the families we would be breaking up? And that lady summed it up nicely, they should have thought about that before they decided to break the law. That's a prime example of the liberal school of thought I've come to recognize- defend the criminal, defend the person that conciously made the wrong decision in the first place. Really irrational level of thinking. I think the far left is seriously detached from reality (don't worry I got plenty of beef with the far right too- praise Je$u$!) Religious debate would likely throw me into a frenzy. I apologize I'm going on a rant.
But yea, the employers, money, big business, it fuels this immigration. Don't hear much to go after it though.

I am more then happy to welcome any legal immigrant into this country. The more the merrier. The word I have to stress is legal. What they are all doing is illegal and they are trying to make us the bad guys for expecting a standerd to be upheld.
As for generalizations about the UDI's it is all damn true. I had my count totaled and I have been involved in the apprehension of over 1600 illegals in the two years that I have been here at Ft Huachuca, Arizona. Every single one of them is the same, they litter everywhere, they speak no english, they have little to know money, they have illnesses, they have no desire to do it legally. I have captured the same person 5 times now and due to current laws nothing happens to him. He is prolly up in Tucson now enjoying my country.
In a nutshell...ILLEGAL immigrants need to be jailed for first time offense, places that high illegals need to be fined every time for every offense, and some form of government needs to have the nuts to say all the above without sounding like a racialy motivated quack. The laws need to be upheld since without them we would turn into Mexico and we would be running to another country. Anywho, that is about it. Flame away. :)

Ha ha, Rosauv pointed out something I didn't even notice. I''ve said all I can, I was hoping for more on the pro-illegal immigration stance, but I'm betting it's very uncommon, much more so than some would have us believe.
So in final I point to my signature. :D

Well this was sent to me I thought it would fit topic...
Xaxer
Dear President Bush:
I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family,
and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the
border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few
arrangements. I know you can help with this.
I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration
quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do
here.
So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm
on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the
following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might
need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the
flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy
access to government services.
9. I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any
effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo
from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police
officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on
my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any
complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and
don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and
never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place
on the economy.
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things
for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that
Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.
However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail
hunting with your V.P.
Thank you so much for your kind help.

Bahahahaha!!!
So true, that's my favorite brand of humor. I watch Bill O'reilly a lot, I know he's right wing (which is fine by me) even though he adamantly says he's independent. He's just a good speaker in my opinion.
But anyways on his show they had a legal analyst and he explains the hypocrisy of the Mexican government. Apparently illegal immigration in Mexico IS a felony- you know, the penalty all the mexicans here are in an uproar to keep from happening. It's punishable by up 2 years in prison. If you become a naturalized mexican citizen you are not eligible for public office or commission in the military (officer). Public office like mayor or governor, if they even have those (I think its likely due to their corruption- keep outsiders out of their agendas).
It is illegal for aliens to participate in public demonstrations and protests. There was some other things but I can't remember them, sorry. But that alone gives you an idea of what Mexico is about.
They might get what they want too, which really upsets me. The democrats are pretty liberal and tend to side on these issues, but the republicans I hear (yes I hedge a lot) are split because this is the cheap labor big business loves to have around. I'd be republican all the way if it wasn't for this kind of thinking. Your guilty conscience may force you to vote democratic, but deep down inside you secretly long for a cold-hearted republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king!

Illegal immigrants run a risk. They are a perfect example of our brand of capitalism at work, I applaud them for that. I don't applaud them for breaking the law - but what they do is essentially what corporations consider "cost of doing business" when they play fast and loose with people's life/health/safety.
If an immigrant can come over here and pick strawberries for 10 cents a day, ten times what they make back home, to feed their family... great. I like paying two bucks for a bushell of berries, I dont think I would like to pay fifteen bucks for those same berries.
If they get caught they get caught and should face the music for breaking the law. Our country is founded on immigration, but that history isnt of illegal immigrants. Our country also handles immigration better than ANY other country in the world.
I think we should get back to our imperial ambitions with mexico and just take them over. That would solve this immigration problem that we seem to be having. Make them all citizens, afford them rights of American citizens, and woo!
