Hines ward will almost definitely outscore Bettis.
A top 5 receiver is better than a running back who won't even be in the top 20.
Furthermore, you don't blow a 1st round pick on someone who is NOT EVEN A STARTER. About the only way you could make a worse pick would be if you drafted Jerry Rice (who just retired).
Keep in mind, it was still a bad pick. There were tons of amazing players one could have gotten with that #1 pick. But the Bettis pick was even worse. HE'S NOT EVEN A STARTER! UGH!

Recievers are ALWAYS the low scorers long term for points, Behind Qb's and Rb's (te's dont count), because everytime a reciever gets a td, so does that qb.
Bettis won't play as much this year as last. Things just worked out just right for him to play as much as he did, as a result of injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. Furthermore, he was already old, and now he is a year older.
I do not disagree that Hines Ward is a titanically bad first pick- especially as #1 overall. I just happen to think the Bettis pick is even worse. Furthermore, Falix should know better (that's his team right, the PowderPuffs). It is one thing for a chick to make a bad pick, but Falix fancies himself a hardcore sports fan!
Keep in mind that it is very possible Bettis would have been the #1 overall pick if somehow Falix had gotten a better random roll and been first (you guys still do auto draft based on preferences, right?).
No, you're not understanding how the draft works.
Falix probably had 13 other people before bettis, but all were picked, thats the wierd thing about auto drafting..... you get totall screwed in some ways.
You put all sorts of people ahead in your draft, but when your going through it, you think okay, here's a qb, cool, here's a wr, sweet, and here's my rb, but then it gets to pick 13 and all of those are already taken. Thats why you have to rank on thinking you will be the #1 pick.
Rankings are everything.
If you think you'll get the #1 Pick. You pick Peyton Manning.
If you ABSOLUITELY FUCKING KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT you're getting a 4th pick, you still have peyton manning as #1.
You dont lose anything by that.
YOu need to schedule your "steals" as 4th and 5th round picks. 4th and 5th rounds is where you steal a defense, or mabye a kicker, or that rookie that you think is great. But the first 3-4 rounds should be automatic. Bettis was, as of alast year, a great pick. I think this year he will get a diminished role, and yes, I think its a bad first 13th pick, based on who I see going in the 2nd, and 3rd rounds.
So everyone's draft picks, if they want to win anything this year, should all be like Peyton manning, Ladanian, Holmes, Alexander, and so on, because You dont LOSE anything when they're picked ahead of you, you just get knocked down to your next rank.
The whole point of this conversation isnt comparing ward to bettis, thats retarded, and I honestly think Ward has a good shot of having a better year than Bettis....

Many of my players did get chosen long before it was my team's turn to pick, so Bettis ended up with me. I'm not too pissed about it though, that guy will score a bunch of touchdowns. Steelers get down inside the 5 yard line? Here comes the Bus. I do agree though that his role won't be quite as big as last year, but that simply means he won't be getting a lot of the carries mid-drive. Come goal-line time, count him in.
On the surface, it definitely does look like one oddball pick though, so I don't blame anyone for going WTF!?
