actually, she was trying to say, 'first you wouldn't let me stay out past 10pm when I was 17, now this!'
I completely understand the parents not wanting their child to die. It's a reasonable (driven by emotion yes, but still reasonable) response to the situation. They are watching as that is being torn from them and they are lashing out at people. Could you truly react in a rational manner?
Most likely the majority of people would try to guilt trip anybody they thought had the power to help their daughter to survive. (Read: Gov. Bush)
I'm a rather callous person. I think too much emphasis is placed on a persons life when it's a singular case. This woman is gone with no chance of recovery. Everyone seems to try and take some politically correct, moral high-road that does nothing but prolong the inevitable. Doctors can't save lives, they can only delay death.
If they thought she was saying "I want to live", couldn't she just have easily been trying to say "I want to die" ?
Yeah, but Governor Bush had done everything in his power to try and help Schiavo live. Remember it was the special legislation he passed back in 2003 that got the tube reinserted the first time around.Quote:

Now I don't know about you, but when someone like Gov. Bush goes to great and extreme lengths to help someone out in a cause, especially when he didn't have to, well then I would be very grateful for someone doing that. I wouldn't lash out at him in the end and pretend like he had done nothing for me. Read Bob Schiavo's statements again, he states that Gov. Bush has put them through HELL for not acting. Gov. Bush could have easily let Terry Schiavo die two years ago.
Where's the Schiavos' criticisms of the Appelate and Supreme Courts? They are the ones who had the power to keep Schiavo alive. Backstabbing one of your biggest supporters is just cruel and unwarranted, especially in such a sensitive situation like this. Remember, as Aristotle pointed out, President Bush has seen his popularity rating drop because of his support of the Schiavo's.

An interesting article from Yahoo, giving a point of view many of us (hopefully) will never have to experience. It puts it into perspective what each of these families would be feeling.
I'm not labeling anyone as the "bad guys." But I am labeling the majority of Republican congressmen as "stupid guys." The same conservatives who constantly tell us we don't need big government voted for the federal government to overstep state jurisdiction. That's just pretty damned dumb.Quote:

Who are you saying did what?
I don't see how you can tie this in with big government. The Republican congressmen didn't vote on some big spending bill that would expand federal government. They just voted on a dubiously constitutional bill that allowed a case to be heard in federal court when all options in state court where exhausted. Why? Because the majority of Republicans tend to be pro-life. Now what on earth does this have to do with big government?Quote:

Ok, be honest. You are certainly labelling someone the bad guys. :pQuote:

I agree with the point you are making, incidentally. :)
How can you even ask this?Quote:

Government Involvement = Big Government.
It doesn't have to be a government program to qualify as government involvement.
That's a no-brainer, if you'll excuse the pun.Quote:
