Yes. I was broke. Yes homeless at a point. Dad got kicked out of his job. Mom couldn't find one. I had to support my lil brother. During this two year period, imagine the hell it was? I was forced to stay with an uncle who i didn know. He wasn't evil but neither was he good. I had nobody to turn to. And always had to put up a strong face for little brother. I thought God couldn't have done worst. Then there was my dad getting into an accident in the factory. I was really upset. My grades slipped and things were going a little crazy. This led to depression and to suicide. And like yourself, once I put the blade on my wrists... I suddenly realised something wasn't right... My brother. I thought all about my brother. This made me realised, suicide is cowardly. I am gonna leave my little brother by himself while I end all my misery? See what I meant now? This was why I thought suicide was a coward's way to go. For in life people you love need you. I would be a coward to leave now. Im over it so I felt I can share this story. And also this community is one I trust.

Hopefully you can understand why I will always say its the coward's way y\to go. We cannot just discard the people we love. Eventually they will move on, but don't you think there might have been another way for us to live?

I refuse to take such a degrading, pessimistic view. I refuse to believe that there are people out there condemned to an unhappy life ended by suicide because of events beyond their control.

I continue to contend that -everyone- has the chance of happiness regardless of what fate has thrown at them. Suicide is an act of quitting, and it is final. The price is your life, and your family members have to sit around and deal with the sorrow.

Suicide is a choice. Saying someone lacks "tenacity and mental fortitude" is no different then calling them cowards.

who cares whether some people kill themselves? It is not that the world is going to go to an end... they are not such a big bunch of them... someone could call it, hmmm, natural selection. To stop them is to go against nature perhaps.

Oh please, that's such an asinine argument. I always happened to believe that cowardice came out of our actions, not out of our limitations. But hey, you have told me me different Azoryn. So let's damn those people who are not perfect as cowards too eh?

You guys need to differentiate between two things. The act of suicide itself and how you do it are TWO seperate actions. I've heard of people who cut their wrists (gotta have balls to do it) and who quickly changed their minds after that cos they didn't want to die. Maybe that meant that they wussed out? Kind of negates the whole courage thing they pulled out by cutting their wrists in the beginning now doesn't it?

Let's talk about the act of suicide itself here. Frankly, I don't have no "my mama was killed by my papa and my papa used to rape me every Friday night so I felt like bringing the kitchen knife and cut my wrists off" kinda stories, but there have been a couple of times where I seriously wanted to jump out from the window to not have to deal with all the crap I had going on with family, school, girlfriend, and last but not least, like any human being out there, myself. It was the EASY way out. Seriously, I mean how easy it is to let go all of your problems and just jump to the other world, knowing that nobody will bother you anymore? That's what suicide is about, you jump to the other world cos you can't handle the problems of the one you're living in. What you have sunk in your unconscious about death is that it'll get you somewhere different, probably more quiet, probably with nobody to criticize you, probably with no tasks to perform, nobody to please (I'm speaking as if there were no religious perspectives, since there are those who believe in them and those who don't). For lack of better terms, I'll call that irresponsible. Why? Well, you got getaways provided in the realm of the living. You can go spend a few days on the coast, go camp in the desert, or whatever, just to clear your mind, then come back to deal with your problems. Hell, that's why the concept of holidays was created. Just the fact that you've left your problems hanging for eternity turns you (for eternity) into an irresponsible person, because the first responsibility you have to take to supress that fact is to carry the responsibility of your own self. Don't you really hate it when you get stood down after waiting two hours for your buddy, who was supposed to come, so that you can have a couple beers? Imagine now, that he was coming to settle some argument you two had? Don't you hate it even more? Now imagine he never even comes to do it? And to me, that's what "having balls boils" down to: Taking your responsibilities at hand and dealing with them. Funny, that when you accomplish that, you don't think about suicide anymore.

Now on to the "How you do it part". I think that's pretty much the boost that makes you think that someone who commits suicide is a real badass and shouldn't be called a coward. It's true, mutilating yourself takes balls. I mean, the only reason I didn't jump out from that window was because I didn't want to fall down, break my bones, and feel some horrible pain a few seconds before actually 'dying'. I admit it! I have no balls to do that! I also can't cut my wrists off. You know why? Same deal. On a more serious note, I'm against mutilating your own body in general, cos if you think you have balls to do so, think again... you actually despise yourself, and the only solution to that is psychiatric help, not death. Funny enough, that's what the people I heard of did.

PS: This wasn't really aimed at anyone in specific, just my opinion on the matter. And to keep my opinion short on what that guy did: yes, that dude must've been really twisted to commit suicide the way he did.

Easy way out? Ok, so all the pain and hurt that was bearing down on you and making your life hell will be removed when you commit suicide. But on the other hand, committing suicide means giving up the one chance you have in life at your own behest, and knowing full well that's its final. So what's so easy about it really? That's a lot of thinking to do for one person who is considering suicide, certainly not an easy decision. A lot of people don't want to take your so-called "easy way out", but quite a few try to hack it and they just find out that they can't.

If suicide indeed were such an "easy way out" as you describe, I'm sure we'd be seeing a lot more people committing suicide.

I take unbridled offense to that comment. Where the fuck did the various methods of committing suicide appear at all on our discussions about these forums? So according to your theory, it is MY undying belief that because the act of suicide requires guts, that suicide itself shouldn't be called cowardly? Well I can tell you that you are one presumptuous and preposterous ass. I have never written anything in my posts implying the smallest notion that mutilating "takes balls", and frankly I find your glorification of mutliation disgusting and preverted. My stance on suicide has got NOTHING to do with the act itself, rather it has to do with the actual decisions that come in play when one is considering committing suicide.

Thanks a lot for reiterating my point. The first instinct you get when you decide to committ suicide is that you just want to let everything go knowing that won't have to deal with anything (God I hate to repeat myself). After that, no matter what it is that leads you to the act of suicide itself, it will be based on cowardice and irresponsibility.

I didn't say that you implied anything about mutilating yourself, nor did I say that it was anywhere written on this forum. That's precisely why I brought it up, nimrod. Ok, so one suicide per 40 seconds, or 1 million suicides per year. With a population of over 6 billion, those 1 million suicides do not even amount to 0.1% of the worlds total population, hell it doesn't even amount to 0.025% of the worlds population. In fact, 1 million suicides per year amounts to 0.00016% of the worlds population. So do we see enough of it? Well becomes very hard to see when the ratio is at 0.00016%.
