Baseball, NASCAR and basketball have the entertainment value of a fishing show.
Football is only mildly interesting.
But Hockey! Hockey is where it's at! And now there's no season! :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad
I can't decide what's worse: the loss of an NHL season, or the fact that I probably would have been too disgusted to watch it if it were saved. The fact that a pro sports league can lose an entire season because of salary crap is sickening. And here I thought seeing the New Jersey teachers' union in action was ugly :P. I can't even decide who I want to slay more, the league or the players' association.
Maybe they'll stop being such bastards when they realize that most of America doesn't give a shit about hockey anymore, and that they're doing their best to alienate the few fans who remain. It's a shame to see such an awesome sport get totally screwed over. Anyone who's been to a live hockey game knows that no other sport can compare to it (no personal bias here, of course). It's time to start heading to minor league games I guess!
For me it's no big loss. Goodbye NHL. Wherever you were.
Hehe, that is exactly how 90% of America feels :P. It's so painful to see hockey drift off into oblivion, and into the 'other sports' section of cnnsi.com, while shit like watching dudes drive in a circle for a few hours thrives. Both sides of these 'negotiations' should have realized that of any major sport, hockey is the one that is least equipped to survive losing a season. Grr.Quote:

Hockey has some of the best fans in the world. The big problem is that they haven't figured out how to attract the casual fan. ESPN does better with things like the World Series of Poker than it does with the NHL playoffs. I would almost bet that more people could name the top 5 poker players in the world before they could name the top 5 hockey players.
Praise be to the sports Gods! Hockey is back! Yeah baby!
Woah woah woah woah. It ain't back yet. I've heard they gonna resume talks, but I have not heard anything yet that it's coming back. I checked ESPN.com and that's what they said.Quote:

Damn it! The talks today were supposed to be productive. A news reports I saw (I think it might have been on ESPN) was overly optimistic, and said they had made major break throughs, but nothing came out of today's meeting. :(Quote:

The NHL season is dead -- again.
After 6½ hours of negotiations, with Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux at the bargaining table, talks broke down Saturday, leaving the already canceled hockey season beyond saving.
"It's certainly not going to be resurrected after today," players' association senior director Ted Saskin said. "It's 100 percent certain coming out of today's meeting that nothing could impact the cancellation of the season."
