Which team you cheering for?
Red Wings, all the way for me. With CuJo back in goal and doing excellent I'm looking forward to another Stanley back in Hockeytown.
However, more importantly, I'm looking forward to seeing Detroit handing Colorado their ass's in the 3rd round.
My original prediction (see the thread in Sports) is still alive - Toronto will take down Calgary in the finals. The Leafs win the Cup.
Calgary is this year's Anaheim. Toronto has the wily vets.

I had to go with the team that had the best regular season record and has good depth: Detroit. One of the keys to the Devils' success in the past was it's third and fourth lines. They'll get a lot of help from a lot of difference faces. Gotta love that.

Anaheim sweeps Detroit last year. Federov leaves Detroit and joins Anaheim. Anaheim doesen't even make it to the playoff's this year. =)
I only started watching hockey this season. (Thanks to the PS2 game NHL Hitz)
And of course, why go any other route than the Red Wings? As Wyden said, they have season record. Simple as that.

Secondly, depth over a couple of stars will almost always win out. To switch sports, look at the NE Patriots. They won the big game because they had depth and people who know how to play their role.
Khabibulin was originally a Winnipeg Jet.
Therefore he outright deserves the cup!

Well, as much as it would have been nice to have the Cup back in Canada, I have to admit them damn Calgarians would have been impossible if they had won! (PS I live in Edmonton, the provincial rival of Calgary - for eons it has been the 'Battle of Alberta' for everything from hockey to football to provincial grants - so, I couldn't quite bring myself to 100% cheer for them!)
I was impressed with the Flames' play - I think they showed that a small market team with a modest payroll is capable of competing - hopefully that in itself will bring some sense to the owners and the players in their contract talks.
All credit to the Lightning, though - that is a good team with some great players, they deserved the win, bravo.
Now, for the World Cup in August --- Canada will win!
