Firefox 0.8
For all those folks who are interested in differing web browsers, I recently experimented with FireFox 0.8 and have been dutifully impressed.
Basically the feature I am really starting to adore is Tabbed browsing. Instead of opening multiple instances of the program to surf more than a single web page, only one instance of the program is open.
Granted it is still in the "pre-release" stage, it is still gaining my support as is over internet explorer.

There is also a POP3 email program that won out over outlook/outlook express in everything I needed it for (Thunderbird Email). Basically it loaded faster, and gave me more detailed errors when something was wrong with the email server I was trying to connect to.

Yeah, Firefox is pretty slick. It's become my browser of choice on both Windows and Linux. I used to be a big CrazyBrowser advocate on the Windows side, but it just doesn't seem to be updated anymore and I started to have some problems with newer pages. So now it's Firefox with the Blue Monkey theme, whee :P. One of my favorite features is the area to the right of the address bar, which can serve an assload of purposes. Google search, find on the current page, or any of the engines you feel like adding (a biggie for me is the dictionary.com add-on).
Over the past couple years, the browser's name changed from Phoenix to Firebird to Firefox, though the Mozilla boys seem confident that this name will stick. Let's hope so! I'm always happy to see a product with good base features and a lot of extesibility, that stops short of being bloated and slow.

I've been using Firefox and it's predecessors for a while now. I LOVE tabbed browsing. If I find a link or dozen I want to read, I press my scroll button down and that opens the link in the background tab. And the google search in the upper right is great.
It's fast, available for Windows and Linux, and free. Get it!

I have also been using this browser since the Phoenix then Firebird days. I actually haven't upgraded to Firefox yet simply because I haven't gotten around to it yet. (I need to jot down all the plug ins I use just in case they don't automatically port over).
The only thing I am not a huge fan of is the bookmark system. In the past, whenever you go to add a new bookmark it keeps all your folders automatically 'expanded' which can make for a beefy list when trying to add a new bookmark.
Other than that, I absolutely love it. Tabbed browsing is definitely the way to go. The fact that it automatically blocks pop ups and doesn't let a web page take over your computer (like IE does) are huge bonuses.
I am a huge supporter and really hope they make this thing kick serious butt by the time they get to 1.0.

I have been using CrazyBrowser for a looong time now, and I too have had problems with some programs... So I am all in for giving Firefox a go once I get home!
Hurray for tabbed browsing!

Wow! I have been using Firefox for the last week and it definately is my favorite browser from now on. :) Fast, reliable and with a lots of plugins/extensions. :biglove
Talking about extensions, what are your favorites?

FireFox is definitely a massive improvement.
The fixed the main thing I didn't like about the previous versions: bookmarks.
The bookmarks are now much better and when you add a bookmark it shows you your list of directories in a non-expanded tree format rather than the old fully expanded tree that could easily get a full screen in size.

I heard about this over citizen so I checked it out. The thing that made me download it was the site saying, "If there's a reason you're using another browser over this one, let us know why." (not an exact quote). So I gave it a try! And no, I don't have any reason to use IE anymore, well except to show my undying support for Microsoft.

Yeah, IE kinda sucks. That whole not standards compliant thing really hurts it.
Speaking of standards compliant, the new website will be, right?

Did any of you have problems with Java-applets in Firefox? I can't get my home banking to work properly in it... :rolleyes
